Setup
System

Position the 3 weigh pads in their appropriate weighing positions. Connect these
pads to the 3 cables coming out of the back of the control unit. Connect each color-
coded cable to the weigh pad with the following designation: White to Nose / Tail,
Red to Left Main and green to Right Main.

To conserve on battery life, you can plug in the charging cable. The system can run-
off either the batteries or the charger. The AC II System will automatically zero any
weight off when it is turned on. Therefore, it is a good idea to connect all of the weigh
pads before you turn on the indicator. You may also manually zero pads by pressing
the TEST / ZERO key.

% / WGT
When pressed the display will show the selected weight percentage and the %
indicator will be “on”. This value is the weight percentage of the selected pads
vs. the total weight of the aircraft. If a specific pad indicator is “on” it means that
weight is selected and will be added into the total and percentage shown.
A percentage will be displayed if no wheel weights are negative and the total
weight is not zero. If all four wheels are selected, the selected percentage will
read 100.0.

weight of the selected pads

selected % = x 100
total weight of the aircraft

TEST / ZERO
If pressed during normal weighing mode, the system will zero all 3 pads. To zero
a specified pad, press and hold the corresponding key (LR, RR) and press zero.
This key is also used to set calibration data (see ACII ServiceManual).

Normally, when the scale is turned on it will automatically zero the scale.
However, if the scale is turned off and turned back on within a couple of
seconds, the current weights will be remembered. That means that if an Aircraft
is on the weigh pads and the unit is turned 'off', when the scale is turned back
'on' the current weights could be displayed, not zero.

RIGHT FRONT (NOSE/TAIL).

Toggles the selection of the right front pad. If the right front is selected, it will be
added to the total weight of the selected pads and the corresponding indicator
will be “on”. This will also add to the weight percentage of selected pads.

LEFT REAR
Toggles the selection of the left rear pad. If the left rear is selected, it will be
added to the total weight of the selected pads and the corresponding indicator
will be “on”. This will also add to the weight percentage of selected pads.

RIGHT REAR
Toggles the selection of the left rear pad. If the left rear is selected, it will be
added to the total weight of the selected pads and the corresponding indicator
will be “on”. This will also add to the weight percentage of selected pads.

FRONT TOTAL
By pressing NOSE/TAIL, the weight of the front end is displayed.

REAR TOTAL
By pressing LEFT REAR and RIGHT REAR simultaneously, the weight of the
rear end is displayed.

TOTAL
By pressing all pad select keys together, the total weight of the aircraft is displayed.

Power / Batteries
You may use 6 rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium ‘AA’-cells or 6 standard alkaline ‘AA’
cells in the SWII system.

WARNING: Do not plug the charger in while there are standard alkaline
cells inside. This could result in damage to the batteries and your scale.

The charging LED (next to the connector on the indicator) will light when the charger is
plugged in. With fully charged Ni-Cad batteries the scale will operate from six to eight
hours off of battery power. With fresh alkaline batteries, the scale will operate 20 - 25
hours.

To replace the batteries unscrew the battery cap. Change cells, being careful to insert
with correct polarity. Screw on the battery cap.

Error messages
The following are possible error messages that may occurring during operation

EEPE The scale has lost saved information needed to weight

properly. Call Intercomp for service

OL Too much weight has been zeroed off (five percent of the
capacity)

OL Too much weight has been zeroed off (minus five percent of
the capacity)
One or more of the weight pads have gone over capacity

Display and Key Pad

DISPLAY

The display shows a 4-digit number representing the weight or percentage. In

addition, there are six bar indicators, three on the left side and three on the right.
Their meanings are as follows:

RF: If “ON” the weight applied to the Nose / Tail pad will be displayed or added to
the total weight displayed or if percent mode is enabled, this pad’s weight will
be included in the percentage displayed.

LR: If “ON” the weight applied to the Left Main pad will be displayed or added to
the total weight displayed or if percent mode is enabled, this pad’s weight will
be included in the percentage displayed.

RR: If “ON” the weight applied to the Right Main pad will be displayed or added to
the total weight displayed or if percent mode is enabled, this pad’s weight will
be included in the percentage displayed.

BAT: If “ON” the batteries are low and should be charged if ni-cad rechargeable or
replaced if alkaline. The scales shut off after about five minutes of low battery
operation.

%: If “ON” the scales is displaying the percentage of weight applied to the

selected pads. If “OFF” the display is of the total weight applied to the
selected pads.

LF: This indicator is not used for this scale system.

Calibration
This section gives the calibration instructions for Intercomp’s AC II
Scales.

Calibration Switch: To access the calibration menus and raw counts mode the
shorting strap on CAL 1 located near the middle of the circuit
board, must be removed. Following calibration, replace the strap
to protect the scale set-up and calibration from change.

Raw Counts Mode: To enter or exit raw counts mode, press the TEST / ZERO and
% WGT keys at the same time. While in the raw counts mode
the display will show the total raw counts of all selected weigh
pads. This is a diagnostic function only and of no use to the end
user.

Calibration Menu: To enter the calibration menu, press the NOSE / TAIL, RIGHT
MAIN, % WGT and TEST / ZERO keys at the same time. The
display will show ‘SEL’ with the four corner indicators lit (LF, RF,
LR and RR). If the display flashes ‘SEL’ and then returns to the
normal display, it means the calibration straps is in place – see
‘Calibration Switch” above.

Once you have entered the calibration menu, you may select
five different options. Within these options at times it will be
necessary to enter a four-digit number. When this occurs, the
current number will be displayed with the left most digit flashing.
The flashing digit may be increased by pressing the TEST
/ZERO key. To move to the next digit, you press %WGT key.
Upon finishing the forth digit by pressing the %WGT key, you
have completed the entry. If present, ignore the extra ‘0’ to the
right of the four digits

Enable Pads: [Press the unlabelled key (upper left on the keypad)] The display
will show ‘EPS’ and the corner indicators will be “ON” for the
pads that are enabled. By pressing the three individual pad keys
and the unlabelled key, the pads can be toggled enabled or
disabled. For the AC II Scale system. LF should be “OFF”, RF
should be on (lit), LR “ON”. Disabled pads will not contribute in
any way to displayed information and cannot be selected during
normal scale operation.

Page 12
ACII Users
Rev I, May 2009

Set Capacity: [Press NOSE / TAIL] The display will show the current capacity
(per pad) and allow you to enter a new four-digit capacity, as
described above.

Span Pads: [Press LEFT MAIN] The display will shoe ‘SP S’ and the four
corner indicators will be lit. Only the three (RF, LR, RR)
indicators that correspond to the NOSE / TAIL, LEFT MAIN and
RIGHT MAIN apply here. The scale is waiting for you to select
which of the three pads to span. Simply press the key for the
pad you want to span. The display will change to ‘000L’. Check
to make sure there is no load on the selected load, and press
the TEST / ZERO key. The display will now change to ‘LLLL’.
Place a calibration weight on the selected pad. Press the TEST /
ZERO key once again. The scale will now wait for you to enter
the amount of weight placed on the pad. At any time before this
the span pads function can be abandoned by pressing the
%WGT key.
