CHAPTER THREE

3. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY


In this chapter description of study area, types of data, sources of data, methods of data
collection, sample size and method of data analysis are presented.

3.1 Description of Study Area


The study was use descriptive research design. The quantitative and qualitative research type was
used to attain the objective of the study. This study was conducted in commercial bank of
Ethiopia, Goro Branch, which is located in Addis Ababa city, Lemi Kura sub-city around Goro
square. The data was gathered from questionnaires and management body through some
structure questionnaires and analysis.

3.2 Sample Size


The researchers were use probability sampling technique since these sampling techniques is
method of selecting a sample from given population by giving equal chances for all members of
the population. From this sampling techniques simple random sampling techniques was selected
for the purpose of gathering primary data. Therefore, there are around 60 employees in
commercial bank of Ethiopia in Goro branch. From those 25 employees was selected by using
this techniques.

3.3 Source of Data


Generally, the researchers were used two types of data. Those are primarily and secondary data.
The primarily data for this study was the response of employees and management bodies of
commercial bank. Secondary data was response from published and unpublished documents,
annual reports by the commercial bank of Ethiopia.

3.4 Method of Data Collection


This study was conducted based on primary and secondary data sources. For primary data,
questionnaire was conducted based on the research problem identified and distributed to manager
and employees of the bank. The questionnaire was used in this study both open and close ended
and interview were conducted to collect information from managers, customers and employees.

The secondary data was conducted with the annual report of the bank, published document, and
newspaper.
3.5 Method of Data Analysis
After all necessary data is reprocessed as accordance with the statement of the problem,
according to objective of the study with the help from primary and secondary sources. The data
presentation and analysis were made by the help of statistical tool like, ratio, percentage,
descriptive explanations. Data processing in this study implies, editing, coding, classification,
financially summarizing the results of question item simple summarizing of table. Bar-graph, pie
chart and percentage completion were made by primary and secondary data collection.
