Welcome to

Molkoms folkhögskola
Study and live at Molkoms folkhögskola in the middle of Sweden. We have two classes,
Film - Creating and producing and Acting - Film and theater open for international
applicants.

Film - Creating and Producing

Is it your dream to make movies? We will give you the
tools you need to achieve your dream and together we
will develop your skills as a storyteller. We offer top
modern equipment, a new recording studio, a unique
Film - Creating and producing

access to actors as well as an emphasis on practical

training, rather than theoretical.

As an international education you will expand your

international network through study trips abroad and

thereby enhancing future work chances.

If you have a curious mind, like a challenge and would like to develop your passion for movies during two
amazing years, Molkoms folkhögskolas film program is the place for you. Together we will create movie
magic and make your dreams come true!

The program is a two-year, tertiary education open for international students and all teaching is conducted
in the English language.

During your time here you will participate in the making of several movies, most of them in close coo-
peration with the schools acting program. Our main focus is content and storytelling which is the reason
we spend a lot of time analyzing as well as giving and receiving feedback. You will also be given the
opportunity to try many of the professions involved in the film making process and get basic knowledge of
self-employment.

Contacts with the film industry

During training you will meet several guest lecturers who are professionally active in the industry and
experts within certain areas, for example screenwriters, playwrights, actors and directors.
We also travel to fairs, film festivals and production units. For instance, we visit FEST New Directors New
Films Festival in Portugal during year 1. In year 2 we make at study trip to the Mediterranean together
with the Acting program from our school and the purpose is partly to make movies in a foreign environme-
nt and partly to become a certified diver and learn the basics of underwater photography. Costs for flights,
accomodation and diving certificate are included in the Technique and Travel Fund.
You will also be offered to visit other film festivals and theater perfomances during your education, these
are not mandatory and costs are not included in the Technique and Travel Fund.

Educational goals
Our goal is to offer our students an international platform. We create a multicultural arena for movie casts
and crews. By developing your ability to tell a story through movies our aim is to make you stand out in
the international labor market.

Teaching content
During the first year you will learn to explore and get to know different features in the process of making a
movie. Two very important key elements are dramaturgy and how to write movie scripts.
During the second year our main focus is directing and photography. This will give you the opportunity to
immerse yourself in the things you are most interested in, for instance directing, script writing, photograp-
hy/lighting, editing, or producing.

Networking and cooperation at the

school
During several projects we work together with
Region Värmlands movie consultants. Most of
the movies are created in close cooperation with
the schools acting program. Together with our
second-year actors we also make study trips to
Film - Creating and producing

Greece and Italy where we learn to dive and

underwater photography as well as making
movies.

The Work Environment Act According to law, studying at a Folk High School is equivalent to working.
You are represented by a student safety agent. That person will be provided with necessary training for the

Absence
All absence, regardless of reason, must be reported to the school office. Since folk high school is a
non-compulsory school form, each student is responsible for his/her own studies. With a high level of ab-
sence you risk not obtaining a complete certificate for your program. But there are also other consequences
that a high level of absence can lead to.

Consequenses of high level of absence If your absence is 25% or more than 30 hours in 3 weeks, a teacher
Film - Creating and producing

will contact you and explain the consequenses of continued high absence. During the following 3 weeks
your absence will be monitored. If the level is still high at the end of the 3 weeks you will receive a first
warning in writing, informing you that continued high absence can lead to you being expelled from
school. The second warning in writing will be issued to the student if there is no improvement regarding
attendance after an additional 3 weeks. Here it will be clearly stated that attendance must improve within
the next 3 weeks, or the student will be expelled.

Student Influence
Film - Creating and producing

The Swedish Folk High School is a free school form guided by broad-based goals and with few unified
rules. Since 2014 a criteria for folk high schools to obtain government grants have been the schools’
development of their students legal rights, for instance by establishing rules and routines for decision
making.

conducting both local and national evaluations with its students. As a student you will get feed-back on
evalutions you have participated in.

To Appeal

master cannot solve the problem you will be guided further to the right person or place. If the problem
still is not solved you can address your appeal to the school’s headmaster.

Payment Liability
Students are liable to pay school invoices on time. Remember that inability to pay is a valid reason for
expelling a student from school.

Molkom Folk High School’s six dormitories have a number of 64 rooms in total. All are
single rooms, a small number of them with their own bathroom.
The rooms are furnished with a
