facility did not obtain an Environmental Clearance Certificate for its Captive Power Plant (CPP) as
required by law for capacities exceeding 500 KVA. The facility is currently utilizing 2 diesel generators
with the capacity of (680+200) =880 KVA to generate electricity.

It was observed through documents review and management interview that the facility is conducting
Participation Committee meetings at least once every three months, as mandated by law. The most
recent meeting took place on March 08, 2024. However, the facility failed to submit the meeting
minutes to the executive director of BEPZA within the seven-day timeframe following the meeting.
Ans: We send Participation Committee meetings to executive director of BEPZA within time frame (within 7 days
of the meeting).
It was noted through facility visit that the randomly checked needle guards of 30 of 1120 single needle
sewing machine were found displaced from its position in the sewing section located at on 1st to
3rd floors of building#1 and 1st to 2nd floors of building#2 which may cause potential risk of needle
prick injury on operator’s finger. However, machine guards were found in proper place and installed all
other machines of the facility.
Ans: Sewing Machine operators using needle guards in place during operation. They avoid to use this guard
carelessly. We aware Sewing Machine operators through training & counselling to use needle guards to prevent
figure injury as well as health injury. Welfare officer will follow up continuously.
Based on factory tour it was noted that that 20 out of 354 overlock sewing machine operators were not
using masks while working at sewing section on 1st to 3rd floors of building#1 and 1st to 2nd floors of
building#2. Though facility had provided the same. Note that inhaling fabric dust for a long time may
cause different respiratory problems to the workers.
Ans: Overlock operator using face mask during operation. We aware the overlock operators to use face / dust
mask to prevent occupational disease as well as respiratory problems.
Moreover, Workers are trained on the use of PPE on a monthly basis throughout the year.
It was noted through document review and management interviews that the facility has provided training on
business ethics to the workers from different sections. However, the facility did not include staffs from high-risk
areas such as procurement, sales, and logistics in the training.
Ans: Business ethics Training included the staffs of high-risk areas such as procurement, sales, and logistics.
This training is conducted every 3 months.
It is recommended that the management adopt practices and controls to develop a transparent system for
confidentially reporting, and dealing with unethical Business practices.
Ans: We have developed Bribery Management System where included Policy, confidentially reporting, and dealing
with unethical Business practices.
