Our Commitment to You

Our team strives to present you with a pattern that is accurate, complete and enjoyable. We know, however, that
sometimes our best efforts are not enough and errata may slip through; for this we sincerely apologize. If we have
overlooked a detail or you have any questions or comments please write us at patternsupport@impeccableknits.ca.
We’re always happy to help.

PATTERN NOTES ABBREVIATIONS

This basic hat in 2 x 2 rib is very stretchy so will fit a DPN double pointed needle
large range of sizes; it offers a choice of a plain ribbed EoR end of round
or a double-sided cable fold-over brim. Having the K/k knit
cable ribbing double-sided gives the wearer the
k2tog knit 2 stitches together
option of not folding the brim over and wearing this
LN Left Needle
hat with a touch of 'slouch'.
P/p purl
p2tog purl 2 stitches together
Method
Knit in the round, from the bottom up. R row / round
rep repeat
Needle Notes RN Right Needle
While these pattern instructions combine the use of a RS Right Side
short circular needle and a set of DPN, for knitting ssk [slip 1 knitwise] twice, slip 2 to LN
hats in the round, a variety of methods may be used: and knit those two sts together
 set of 4 or 5 DPN or through the back of the loops
 circular needle 16" / 40cm with set of DPNs st /sts stitch / stitches
to work the crown shaping or
WS Wrong Side
 two circulars 16" / 40cm or longer for Two
Circulars Method or
 one circular 32" / 81cm or longer for
Travelling Loop or Magic Loop

DIRECTIONS
Designer Note: For these hats, I like to use the Estonian Cast On – see a picture tutorial here on our
Shifting Stitches blog.

FOR BOTH MODELS:

Using a stretchy Cast On of your choice and circular needle, CO 120 sts.

Place an End of Round (EoR) marker. Join in the round being careful that the cast on stitches are
not twisted.
