INTRODUCTION
According to National Council of Mathematics Teachers, problem solving plays an important
role in mathematics and should have a prominent role in the mathematics education of K-12 students. However, knowing how to incorporate problem solving meaningfully into the mathematics curriculum is not necessarily obvious to mathematics teachers. The term "problem solving" refers to mathematical tasks that have the potential to provide intellectual challenges for enhancing students' mathematical understanding and development. Students who learn problem-solving skills may see an improved ability to retain and recall information. Specifically, being asked to explain how they reached their conclusions at the time of learning, by sharing their ideas and facts they have researched, helps reinforce their understanding of the subject matter (Marshall, 2022). Problem-solving allows students to develop understanding and explain the processes used to arrive at solutions, rather than remembering and applying a set of procedures. As grade 10 students we conduct this mini research study not for ourselves only but for those students who needs to be enlightened and encourage to have interest in Mathematical problem solving.
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
This study aims to determine the perception of every grade 10 students of Malisbong National High School about problem solving in Mathematics subject. Their observation and insights how easy and difficult to solve a certain mathematical problem and the difficulties they encountered during the process.
RESULT We conducted an informal survey through a poll from the grade 10 students where they answer the questions; Is Mathematical problem hard, average, or difficult?
