Building a House 3D
1. Make a 2D plan. The boundary should be closed; it can be done either by using polyline
command or joining line/polyline using polyline edit (= pe) command.

4. Your view is changed to this form.
5. Make the plan closed, i.e. close the boundary as stated above in step 1.
6. To give height to the wall, go to Draw->Solid->Extrude or Ext in Command line. You should
Specify height of extrusion or [Path] i.e. Wall height in Command line.

7. Now your drawing is like this. Use shademode command to view in different shading option.

9. Move it upper point of wall as shown below.
10. Extrude this rectangle to lintel height; the value of height should be negative.
11. Your drawing is like as below. The taper angle should be zero.

12. To make Window, close all layers except layer containing wall & Window.
13. Move all windows to sill height. It can be done by giving moving coordinate @0, 0, 30 (say).
Here value 30 is sill height.

5
15. Extrude all windows to windows height.
16. The window is interfering to wall, so the interfering part should be cut. To make this use
Subtract (=su) command. The bigger object is wall & smaller object are windows.
Command: su
SUBTRACT Select solids and regions to subtract from .. Select Wall 3D object & Enter

Select solids and regions to subtract .. Select Windows 3D Object & Enter
18. To make Slab over the wall, Close polyline in base & move it to top of wall; extrude it to
required height (7.5 say).

19. To construct next storey follow the same process by using first floor plan & move it over the
top slab of the ground floor.
20. To extend slab, go to Tools->New ucs->Origin, move the ucs to Bottom point of slab as
shown below.

8
21. Draw a rectangle using following points.
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D
9
23. Move the ucs to its original position.
24. To make sloping roof rotate UCS (XYZ icon) to y- axis about -90 degrees.
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D
10
25. Move the UCS (User Coordinate System) to this point as shown below.
26. Offset this triangle about slab thickness & move them to this point as shown below.
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D
11
27. Extrude them to length of the wall (-ve value).
28. Subtract from Bigger to Smaller.
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D
12
29. Your drawing is like this.

13
31. To cut horizontal portion of the triangle use solidedit command; go to Modify->Solid Editing-
>Move faces. Select only one face as shown below.Select only on face move it to negative Z
(Value greater than Slab thickness @0, 0,-100(say)).
Base of arch
6. Extrude this section to your required height having taper angle equals zero.
8. To unite them use union (= uni) Command; Select base & arch then enter.
9. Use Shademode command to view difierent shade option.

17
10. Add two rectangles to the base; extrude them to height equals culvert top.
11. Draw a Slab top of the base; move the UCS to top Endpoint.
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D
18
12. Extude it to required slab thickness.

To Make Tea Glass
1. make a circle; offset it to required thickness;
2. Change the view from plan to isometric, move inner circle +ve z direction to base thickness
(@0,0,2 say)
3. Extrude them to required thickness, give a reasonable –ve value of taper angle (-15 say).
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D
20
4. Subtract from outer cone to inner cone; use subtract (=su) command.
Command: su
SUBTRACT Select solids and regions to subtract from .. Select Outer Cone 3D object & Enter
Select solids and regions to subtract .. Select Inner 3D Object & Enter
Use shademode command to view real effect; Use orbit command to see inter (Press mouse
button & drag it, to return in original position go to view-> 3D View-> SW Isometric)
3. Compare the object to revolve & Rotation axis to the green box. You will found that they are
parallel to the top (or bottom face) of the box. It means that the object to revolve (rotation
axis also) is in sleeping position. So you have to erect it. To do this Draw a line parallel to the
X-axis.
4. Now rotate them (Object to revolve & Rotation Axis) to the axis parallel to this line about 90
degrees. To do this use rotate3D Command (Modify->3D Operation-> Rotate3D)
Select Objects: Select Object to Rotate & Rotation Axis then enter.
[Object/Last/View/Xaxis/Yaxis/Zaxis/2points]: Type O for Object & enter
Select a line, circle, arc, or 2D-polyline segment: Select the Line // to X-axis.
Specify rotation angle or [Reference]: type a value equals to 90 degrees & enter.
Handsout on Auto-Cad 3D

5. Revolve the Object to revolve about Rotation axis; Use Revolve(= rev) command
Select Objects: Select the Object to revolve & enter.
Specify start point for axis of revolution or
Define axis by [Object/X (axis)/Y (axis)]: Type O for Object & enter.
Select an Object: Select the Axis of revolution.
Specify angle of revolution <360>: give a value equals to 360 degrees & enter.
6. Use shademode & orbit command at a time to take real effect & to see internal part.
