CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION
A. The Background of the Study
Educational entrepreneurship is a vital domain that combines the principles of entrepreneurship
with the unique challenges and opportunities of the education sector. In recent years, there has
been a growing interest in understanding how educational institutions are established, managed,
and evolved to meet the changing needs of society. This project aims to delve into the intricacies
of managing an educational institution through a comprehensive interview with the owner of a
school or foundation. The insights gained from this interview will shed light on the entrepreneurial
aspects of educational management, providing valuable lessons for aspiring educational
entrepreneurs.

The foundation of any educational institution is often rooted in a compelling vision and
mission. Understanding the historical context and the driving forces behind the establishment of a
school is crucial. This involves exploring who was involved in the process, the initial challenges
faced, and the core values that guided the founders. By examining these aspects, we can gain a
deeper appreciation of the entrepreneurial spirit that fuels the creation and growth of educational
entities.

Over time, schools evolve in terms of facilities, curriculum, and student achievements.
Tracking this development provides a clear picture of how educational institutions respond to the
dynamic demands of the educational landscape. The interview will explore how the school has
expanded its infrastructure, adapted its curriculum, and achieved significant milestones in student
performance. This longitudinal view will highlight the strategies employed to ensure continuous
improvement and relevance in a competitive environment.

The methodology of teaching is a critical component that supports the educational vision and
mission of a school. Innovative teaching methods that align with the school's goals can
significantly enhance student learning experiences. The interview will delve into the pedagogical
approaches adopted by the school, examining how they foster an environment conducive to
learning and personal growth. Understanding these methods provides insight into the practical
application of educational theories within the school setting.

1
Community engagement and alumni relations are pivotal in building a supportive network
around a school. The interaction between the school and its community, including former students,
can play a significant role in the institution's success. This section of the interview will explore
how the school maintains its relationship with the community and alumni, and the impact of these
relationships on the school's development. The role of alumni in mentoring current students and
contributing to school initiatives will also be examined.

Finally, the challenges faced by educational institutions and their responses to these challenges
offer valuable lessons in resilience and innovation. The interview will cover the major obstacles
the school has encountered, such as financial constraints, policy changes, or competition, and the
strategies implemented to overcome these hurdles. Additionally, the school's partnerships with
other organizations and its adaptation to technological advancements will be discussed. This will
provide a holistic view of the school's efforts to enhance educational quality and prepare for future
challenges.

APPENDICES
A. Interview Transcript
A : izin bertanya bapak. Selamat siang bapak, saya ingin mengajukan beberapa pertanyaan
terkait pengelolaan sekolah.
A : iya bapak
Kenyataannya
memang saya perhatikan begitu.
sekitar sini.
Nah
yang kedua, pertanyaannya apa tadi?
A : visi misinya terkait sekolah ini, berarti tadi terkait masyarakat
Apasih? Mereka bertanya-tanya seperti itu. Jadi memang tujuannya untuk lingkungan
sekitar dulu lah memang.
Jadi setiap
tahun kita bangun 2 kelas, 2 kelas, 2 kelas.
A : berarti tiap tahun ada progres selalu
B : iya, ada program la begitu, membangun. Banyak juga istilahnya masyarakat yang takut
mau masuk, ya mungkin suasana kelas cuman 2, tinggalnya dulu ini semua masih hutan

9
masih banyak pohon-pohon pisang pohon duku, maish hutan lah. Semenjak saya punya
A : selanjutnya pak, untuk kurikulum. Perkembangan kurikulum
B : kalau kurikulum, saya masih pakai kurikulum dinas kemarin itu saya masih pakai
kurikulum K13. Sekarang ini, tahun ajaran baru ini ya, semua wajib pakai kurikulum
merdeka.
dinas. Tambahan kami, kami masukkan lagi dengan program agama, seperti fiqih, hadist,
iqra, al-qur’an, juga kami masukkan didalamnya. jadi karenakan full day sama tahfidz,
tahfidznya itu kami ubah pagi semua sampai jam setangah 8 sampai 9.30. nanti jam 9.30
baru kita mulai ke pembelajaran sampai ke jam 12, isoma, makan, solat, tidur, lanjutkan
lagi jam 12 sampai selesai.
A : kalau terkait prestasi pak?
kami masih kelas 5 olimpiade sains, tapi masih tingkat sekolah dulu, kecamatan, mau
masuk kabupatenn kami kalah. Jadi kita masih berusaha, karena saingannya sekolah-
sekolah maju, N***L I***I, C***A B***A, sekolah yang c**a itu kan wilayah kami, jadi
Sebulan
sekali, 3 bulan sekali, 6 bulan sekali.
A : baik Pak, terkait metode pengajaran di sekolah. Bagaimana metodenya pak
karakternya. Itulah, buat mereka dulu keahlian-keahlian, nah sekarang kan zaman
teknologi, sekarang saya kasihkan mulai dari kelas tinggi 5,6. Tapi yaitu, saya terhambat
fasilitas, jadi 12 orang Perempuan masuk, baru 12 orang laki-laki masuk, ya secara

10
bergantian.
jadi ntar saya modalkan, jadi nanti dimodalkan uang, buat modal sekecil-kecilnya, mau
jualan apa, yang penting yang dijual bermanfaat. Nanti kumpullah orangtua, dijualkan,

dihitung semua baru dibagi.
Tapi,
A : baik, pak.
Selamat siang, pak.
B : iya, selamat siang.
