Introduction:
Technology becomes a major source for the development of business in various sectors such as
education, healthcare, finance, etc. With technological advancement, networking technologies
become an effective factor for working. There is a requirement of enterprise network design for
Jones hospital that is situated in Australia. There are seven buildings of this hospital in its area.
Enterprise networks can cover various buildings that are available in the area of the hospital.
This report present, the designing, implementation, & planning of the wireless network for the
hospital. The network which can be designed in the study is capable to cover the entire area of
buildings and providing better services[1]. Organizations are generally shifted their network
from wired connectivity to wireless because of the slower speed of the wireless network. This
report provides a cost-effective and advanced wireless network design solution for Jones
hospital. There are a few subtasks available in the phase of implementation which shows the
network requirements and existing network of the organization. For the designing of the network
effective site survey has been performed so that the network can be designed according to the
requirements of the hospital. The existing network of the organization is also utilized in the
designing of a new wireless network so that the overall cost can be reduced. Jones hospital has
almost 800 employees and all the employees required a proper connection for their working. The
existing network of the organization is wired so that employees have to face difficulties in their
working because they cannot access the internet from any location of the hospital. It is also find
out that the main server of the complete network will be installed in the central building of
hospital where operations of patients are completed. It is very essential to limit the radion
frequencies near the emergency room and operation theatres of the hospital so that it cannot
affect the health of the patients. This report describes the networking components, requirements
analysis, network topology that are used in network designing[2].

Requirement Analysis:
It is very important to define the requirements and constraints to ensure the design of the wireless
network meets the expectations of the users. In the existing network, UTP(Unshielded Twisted
Pair wiring) is utilized in the satellite buildings of the hospital. The administrative staff of the
hospital suggested that it is a must to have LAN in the conference room of the central building as
every staff member has laptops and computers, & every employee should be capable to get
access to the network from the main building of the organization. The system must provide
effective network connection in all the buildings of the hospital so that the productivity of the
staff can be improved. Generally, staff has to travels among the central building and satellite
building of Jones hospital. An effective network is needed for the hospital. To connect all the
buildings of the hospital on the same network it is very important to have a suitable network
topology to design the network. This network is designed for the hospital so that it must have to
be secured and provide effective services in each building. A reliable network is required in the
hospital so that all the employees can effectively complete their work. A site survey is required
to collect all the requirements of the network[3]. All the equipment is selected according to the
site survey of the building area. The router’s coverage area is captured with the help of a site
survey. Different devices are selected for network designing according to the site survey. The
budget list and different components are selected from the site survey. Site survey provides
effective information on frequency bands, routers that can be utilized in the design of the
network. Stakeholders of the network are also found out in the analysis and requirement phase.
This network designing project has some sponsors such as the IT team to access the network
infrastructure, a network security team to manage hospital security. For this network Star
topology is very suitable. There are some hardware components selected from the site survey.
Seven switches one for each building of the hospital, Two servers backup and main server, 14
CISCO 2811 routers(2 for every building), network hub for routers connection.

Network Requirements:
In the above section requirements analysis is finished. Stakeholders and site surveys provide
details of network requirements. All the requirements of the network has been collected from the
hospital administrator. It is a must that the network fulfilled all the requirements of the hospital.
The current network of the hospital contains twisted wiring which is uncovered. There is a need
to set up a LAN system in the central building’s conference hall. It provides internet services to
all the buildings of the hospital[4]. All the employees of the hospital can use the internet services
from any building of the hospital. The existing network of the hospital has several issues such as
employees having to travel to different buildings for internet access and these services are
affected. All the services that are offered by the hospital can be effectively enhanced with the
help of network design. For communication, work employees travel to different buildings and in
some emergency cases, it can be very dangerous for the patients. There is a secured network
designed according to the requirements that are given by the hospital administrator. This network
is reliable so Jones hospital can modify it according to their future requirements. The radio
frequencies of the network are limited so that it cannot give damage patients' health. The network
hub of the complete network is situated in the central building’s conference hall because there is
no operation theatre on that floor.

Functional Requirements:
Hospital operates several computers and devices so it requires a high-speed connection[5]. The
functional requirements of the hospital network are described by the hospital admin.
 This network should have to cover the entire hospital in its network.
 A high-speed connection speed is required.
 The central building of the hospital should have a LAN connection for internet access.
 A wide range of networks is needed so that employees of the hospital can use internet
services from anywhere in the hospital area.
 Limited frequency is required for the network band so that patient's health is not
compromised.
 The wireless network provides different wireless connectivities like Wifi, Bluetooth.
 All the users that are available in the hospital can access the internet services.
 The use of IEEE standards in the network design is a must.
 Every device that is used in the network design should have a network interface card.
 The network should have to be secured with the WPA2/WPA3 security protocols and
user ID and passwords should be given to the authenticated users.
 The network should have to capable to provide an effective internet speed with more
users.
 A backup server can be used in the network design for some emergency cases. The
current network of the organization does not have any backup plan.

Non-Functional Requirements:
Non-functional requirements of the system are very important during new design because the
system quality depends on the NFs of the system. It is very essential that the system should
fulfilled needs of the users[6]. This section of the report provides effective information on the
NFs of Jones hospital's network design.
 Affordability: It is very important that all the tools and components that are used in the
network design do not overcrossing the budget of the project. So that the organization can
afford the system.
 Performance Requirements: The users of the network should not feel disconcerting
while using the network because of slow responses. It is very important that the response
time, processing time, and querying time of the network should be good.
 Security: Security of the network is a major aspect of the complete system because all
the work is depends on the network and it handles a large amount of data. There are
various patients and employees in the hospital so data leakage is not acceptable. The use
of effective network security protocols such as WES, WPA, WPA2, etc. can provide
better security to the network.
 Scalability: Technology is continuously growing and it is very important to design a
scalable system so that the organization can change the network whenever it needed.
System requirements can be changed in the future so that it is important to provide a
reliable network.
 Availability: This network will provide effective services to users available in the
network so it is very essential that the system provides 24*7 services. If network services
can be stopped in any case than complete work of the hospital will stop and it is not good
for the hospital[7].
 All the technologies and components that are utilized should have to be the latest.

Network Design:
The use of networking services is spreaded almost everywhere. There are various techniques
available that can be used to design the enterprise network for Jones Hospital. The administrator
of the hospital says that the network should cover complete area of the hospital. There are some
steps that can be utilized for the designing of the network for the hospital:-
 The information security manager of the hospital provide a satellite view of the hospital.
After that the planning of the network has been started. The control room of this network
is set up in the central building. The networking hub is situated in the conference room of
the hospital.
 The maion building of the hospital is separated from other buildings and this building has
eighth floors.
 The designed wireless network must have a good range of internet connectivity so that
the users from other buildings can be easily use the services.
 It is required that the control room of the network must have to be noise free and there
should no disturbance so that it is set up in the conference room of central building.
 In the control room LAN connection has been provided.
 In network design 14 routers and 7 switches are utilized. As presented in the network
design diagram 2 routers are set up in one building. One router is connected to the
networking hub of central building and other is connected to the router of nearby
building[8].
 Star topology is utilized in the designing of this effective network.
 This setup of devices provide effective services in the emergency time. When one router
of a building fails then internet services will not stop because second router is connected
to other building’s router.
 Latest CISCO 2811 routers are the best choice for the network design.
