The Hollywood Adventure Challenge

By: Morgan Greene
It was the first morning of our trip to Hollywood, California. My sister, Emma, and I had been waiting for
this day forever. We had always dreamed of visiting Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Sign, and
all the other cool places we had seen in movies. But now that we were actually here, we realized we
had a problem!
“We’re never going to fit everything in!” I said, staring at the list of everything we had written down the
night before. There were so many places we wanted to visit, but only one day to do it.
“I know!” Emma sighed. “I want to see the Hollywood Sign, but we also have to go to the Chinese
Theatre and see all the handprints. And then we can’t forget the Star Walk! But we only have a few
hours.”
I looked at her, feeling a little hopeless. “There’s no way we can do all of it,” I said. “I mean, we’re going
to have to choose, and I can’t decide!”
We both stared at our list, and for a minute, it felt like our whole trip was going to be ruined by one
problem: we just couldn’t pick which sites to visit.
Then, Emma’s face lit up. “Wait, I have an idea! What if we turn this into a challenge?”
I raised an eyebrow. “A challenge?”
“Yeah! We’ll race against the clock,” she said, grabbing her phone and pulling up the map of
Hollywood. “We’ll set a timer and see how many places we can visit before the day is over. Whoever
visits the most places wins!”
I couldn’t help but smile. “That’s genius! You’re on!”
So, we made the rules. We had to visit as many attractions as possible, and take pictures at each one,
but we had to make it quick. The clock was ticking, and it was on!
Our first stop was the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We raced down the sidewalk, looking for the biggest
stars we could find. “I got Leonardo DiCaprio!” I shouted. “Take a picture with him!”
Emma snapped the photo and then checked the time. “Five minutes down, only fifteen to go!” she
yelled, pulling me along to the next spot.
We ran to the Chinese Theatre, where we spent a few minutes admiring the famous handprints in the
cement. Emma tried to find a handprint that was bigger than her hand, but we had to keep moving.
“Next stop!” I said, glancing at my watch.
The Hollywood Sign was up next. We took a bus ride up the hill to get a good view, then took a selfie in
front of it. It wasn’t the longest stop, but it was totally worth it. As the day went on, we realized that the
challenge wasn’t just about seeing the most places. It was about enjoying every moment together,
racing around Hollywood like we were in our own action movie.
By the time the sun started to set, we were both tired but happy. We had visited so many places, but
the best part of the day wasn’t the sites, it was the fun we had running around, making memories.
“Okay,” I said, checking my phone. “I think I won. I saw more places than you!” Emma smiled and rolled
her eyes. “Yeah, yeah. But who had more fun?” she teased. I laughed. “I guess we both did.”
And that’s when we realized the best part of our trip wasn’t about seeing everything on our list. It was
about having an adventure together!
