Notes and Lecture – Ballroom Dance

Ballroom Dance is a forms of dancing that involve two persons dancing in unison, in contact with each
other, and in time to music.

Dynamic is a feature of dance that focus with variation in the force and intensity of movements.

Technique refers to degree of body control and mastery of basic steps.

Samba is an animate dance which became the Brazilian Dance.

Salsa is a dance that can be thought of as a club or street version of the MAMBO.

Rhythm is a feature of dance which is relative fast or slow repetition.

Tango is most fascinating dance originated in Spain.

Design an arrangement of music according to a pattern.

Rumba dance uses delayed hip action rather than direct hip action.

Waltz is originated from Germany derived from the word Walzen which is means to revolve.

Bolero is often called the dance of love.

Salsa is a street version of the Mambo dance.

Mostly the ballroom dances are in 4/4 time signature.

Quick Step is a fastest of the ballroom dances and known for lots of hops.
