3. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
The course is the final of the three classes for Intermediate Accounting. The course continues the
intensive study begun in Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2. Upon completing the course, students
will be able to apply IFRS to identify and measure asset, liability, equity accounts and related
revenue and expense items, make necessary journal entries, identify required disclosures, prepare
related financial statements. Topic areas include investment, revenues, income taxes, leases,
statement of cash flows, accounting changes and error correction and full disclosure in financial
reporting. The course seeks to develop student’s ability to prepare and use financial accounting
information, learn the application of IFRS in order to analyse and prepare financial statements,
develop communicative, critical-thinking through the study of this course.

5. COURSE GOALS
Upon completion of the course, the students will be abble to:
- Have sound knowledge of accounting standards applicable to the recognition,
classification, measurement and recognition of investments, revenues, income
taxes, leases, accounting for changes and error corrections, prepare statement of
cashflow and full disclosure in financial reporting.
- Understand and apply the appropriate presentation of the major asset, liability and equity
accounts and related revenue and expense items in the financial statements, including the
appropriate disclosure.
- Apply the skills in case study solving.
- Indicate how to present consolidated financial statements in a good form.

9. COURSE REQUIREMENT & EXPECTATION


Class Structure/Attendance and Participation
Classes will be conducted using a combination of lecture and problem solving
format. Class participation is one of the most effective ways of learning the concepts, as
you get instant feedback. I welcome your participation in class. It is required that you be
present in every meeting. Students must give prior notice of excused absences as far in
advance as possible.
Classroom Etiquettes:
Use of cell phones and other communications (texting) devices is strictly prohibited in
the class room. Each instance of the use of these devices or disruption caused by buzzing
or ringing of a cell phone will result in one point reduction in class participation grade.
