Conference Aims
The ever-growing global population and rising living standards exert significant pressure on
natural resources, particularly construction materials. Accelerated industrialization and urban
sprawl further exacerbate environmental challenges, especially in sensitive regions. Southern
countries, including many in Africa, face compounded issues such as environmental
degradation, water stress, deadly floods, material shortages, and prolonged droughts.
Addressing these challenges requires interdisciplinary research in fields like water resource
management, waste treatment, climate change adaptation, innovative construction materials,
and infrastructure resilience. Such research can contribute to sustainable development at local,
regional, and national levels by promoting strategies to preserve resources, adopt renewable
energy, and enhance infrastructure safety and sustainability.
Since its launch in 2013 at the Mohammadia School of Engineers in Rabat, GeoME has become
a premier platform for knowledge exchange in geosciences and environmental management.
Starting with 40 participants, the conference has steadily grown in size and influence.
GeoME’2, hosted in 2017 at the Higher School of Technology of Salé, marked a turning point
with 134 attendees, while GeoME’3 in 2018 attracted 117 participants back to Rabat. The most
recent edition, GeoME’4, held in June 2023 in Salé, welcomed 160 participants over three
days, reflecting its expanding significance. Each edition has tackled critical themes, including
advances in materials, construction techniques, environmental challenges, and innovative
engineering technologies, solidifying GeoME’s reputation as a key event in its field.
The success of GeoME’4 was further underscored by the publication of selected articles in a
Springer journal indexed in Scopus (https://link.springer.com/conference/geome). This
milestone highlights GeoME’s dedication to producing impactful and globally recognized
research, furthering its mission to address pressing challenges in civil and environmental
engineering through innovative, interdisciplinary approaches.
GeoME'25 will build on this legacy by integrating emerging perspectives to meet evolving
challenges in the field. The conference will highlight advances in smart and sustainable
materials, urban transformation through smart city initiatives, and construction digitalization.
It will explore innovative applications of artificial intelligence in geosciences, environmental
and civil engineering, including its use in heritage preservation and restoration. Additionally,
the role of green hydrogen in fostering sustainable urban development and civil engineering
will be a key focus area.
By embracing these forward-looking themes, GeoME'25 reaffirms its commitment to driving
innovation, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration, contributing to a cleaner, more
resilient future for the communities it serves.
