STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS PROCEDURES AND DESIGN CALCULATIONS

(SEISMIC ANALYSIS DESIGN OF BASE SHEAR V)
1. Locate and measure the distance of nearest active fault to the location of your proposed building. (Use
geohazard hunter)
2. For Design of base shear computation. Compute the weight of the building, select critical area or
consider tributary area.
3. Use Seismic Analysis data for NSCP code 2015. Lateral forces will be distributed in the roof level and 2nd
floor level)
4. For frame analysis of internal forces (bending moment and axial force) using Portal, Cantilever Method
and Approximate analysis or any method for frame analysis.
5. Find the maximum moment in beams and columns in your frame analysis. The bending moment will be
added in your design calculation for beams and columns.
Example :
(Mu = Actual moment + moment frame analysis)
6. Find the maximum shear forces in beams and columns in your frame analysis. Shear forces will be added
in your design calculation for columns beams and columns.
(P = Actual shear force + shear force from frame)

7. Find the maximum axial forces in beams and columns in your frame analysis. Axial forces will be added in
your design calculation for columns beams and columns.
(P = Actual axial load + axial force from frame)
