Detailed Introduction About Bar Bending Schedule

• What Is Bar Bending Schedule ?

➢ Bar Bending is the process of Cutting & Bending of reinforcement bar into required shape. And
making it’s list which describes :
✓ _____________________________
✓ _____________________________
✓ _____________________________
✓ _____________________________
✓ _____________________________
✓ _____________________________
✓ _____________________________
Of each bar in a reinforcement drawing of a structure. This process of listing is called SCHEDULING.

Detailed Introduction About Bar Bending Schedule

• Why Steel Is Used As Reinforcement Bar?

➢ Coefficient of Thermal Expansion characteristics similar to concrete.

➢ As concrete is week in tension so to develop tensile strength of structure steel is used .

➢ Good Strength for economic design of R.C.C structure.

➢ Good gripping or good bonding with concrete.

➢ Good resistance against corrosion for higher durability.

➢ Good bendability for providing required shape. Ribs

• Types Of Reinforcement Bar

➢ Plain Bar ➢ Deformed Bar

➢ Note: Spacing between 2 ribs is

10 mm.

Detailed specification of bar

• Bend Deduction & Values

➢ Bend increases the length of Bar . So we need lesser length than we see in drawing. So cutting length
is taken lesser than the required length.

• Value for Bend Deduction

➢ 45* : _________ ➢ 90* : _________ ➢ 135* : _________ ➢ 180* : _________

• Example to understand Bend Deduction

➢ Sample given In Drawing
Start
➢ Ex: Total Length From Start to
End
End we see in drawing = 1000 mm

➢ Process of Making Stirrup

Start 1000 mm End

▪ Step 1 ▪ Step 2 ▪ Step 3 ▪ Step 4 ▪ Step 5

____* ____*
___*

___* ___*

▪ Note: At each bend value will be increased by 3 x 90* & 2 x 135*

= (__ x __ x__) + (__ x __ x __) = ____mm
= ____ + ___ = _____ mm actual length but from drawing length is 1000 mm

▪ So, we follow bend deduction to get exact value given in drawing.

Cutting Length = _____ – ___ = ______mm
