Exposure to manganese dust or fumes can also
lead to neurological conditions
Calcium fluoride Skin irritation, Serious eye irritation and causes
Respiratory irritation
Titanium Dioxide Suspected of causing lung cancer
Potassium silicate Skin irritation and Eye irritation

Control Measures [Fume Cupboard, glove box, safety cabinet, local exhaust ventilation]

Engineering Controls: Avoid exposure to welding fumes, radiation, spatter, electric shock, heated
materials and dust. Ensure sufficient ventilation, local exhaust, or both to keep welding fumes and
gases away from breathing zone and general area. Keep work place and protective clothing clean
and dry. Train welders to avoid contact with live electrical parts and insulation conductive parts.
Check condition of protective, clothing and equipment on the regular basis.

Access control: Restricted to competent personals, Special containment facility (provide specific
area)
Personal Protective Equipment [Lab coat/overalls, gloves, eye/hearing/respiratory protection]

Respiratory protection: Use an air purifier dust respirator when welding or brazing in a confined
space, or when local exhaust or ventilation is not sufficient keep exposure valve in safe limits.
Hand Protection: Wear appropriate gloves to prevent skin contact (leather material) EN12477 for
welders.
Eye Protection: Welder’s helmet or face shield with color absorbing lenses. Shield and filter to
provide protection from harmful UV radiation, infra-red and molten metal appropriate to
standard EN379. Filter shade to be a minimum of shade 9.
Skin Protection: Heat resistance protective clothing. Wear safety boots, apron and shoulder
protection

Health surveillance required [E.g. Carcinogen, mutagen, toxic to reproduction, sensitizer]

Not required.
Handling and Storage

Precaution for safe handling: Handle with care to avoid stings or cuts. Wear gloves when
handling consumables. Avoid exposure to dust. Do not ingest. Some individual can develop an
allergic reaction to certain materials. Retain all warning and identity labels.
Safe storage: Store in cool, dry place in sealed packages, Separate from chemicals

Waste disposal [Contractor, chlorinated, non-chlorinated, non-hazardous aqueous, general

waste]

This product is no considered hazardous waste if discharged. Residue from welding consumables
and process could degrade and accumulate in soils and ground water.

Fire Fighting Measures

Suitable Extinguishing Media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistance foam, dry chemical or carbon
dioxide. Welding arcs and sparks can ignite combustible and flammable materials.
Unsuitable Extinguisher Media: Do not use water on molten metals
First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air immediately or administer oxygen. Get medical attention
immediately.
Skin: Flush skin with large amount of water
Eye: Flush eyes with water for at least 15 mins
Ingestion: obtain medical attention immediately if ingested
Assessment Summary
Workplace Exposure limit should not be Exceed the limit. And frequently check for the
decomposable products like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide. The only way to determine the
true identity of the decomposition is by sampling and testing.

Signature to confirm that this is a suitable and sufficient assessment of risk and that stated control
measures are in place and will be reviewed.
