Ranchi
17th August, 2024
Ranchi is no more a safe city once it used to be. Daylight robberies have become
a part of the life of the city. Yesterday, a daylight robbery was committed in Anand Lok.
It was about 11.30 am. The robbers broke open a side door and entered the house.
They asked for the keys of the cupboards and boxes. They had revolvers in their hands.
Women and children became dumb with fear. The robbers finished their jobs within
minutes. They decamped (ran away) with all the jewellery and cash. It was the loss of
about 20 lakhs. Before running away, they locked the inmates in a room. The
neighbours rushed to help only when they heard their cries. The police came an hour
late. The people seem to have lost faith in the police.

FIRE MISHAP
By: Raman, a staff reporter of The Times of India
Hazaribag
20 February, 2024
Hazaribag is no safer city now. Various accidents are reported everyday. A fire
broke out in our neighborhood at Matwari yesterday. It took away two innocent lives too.
The fire broke out in a store house due to a gas cylinder explosion. It occurred in the
evening about 6 pm. It was very frightening to see the extent of the flames. It seemed to
engulf the adjacent house. Three persons received serious injuries. The household
goods worth almost ten lakhs were completely destroyed. Two persons died on the
spot. Though, the exact cause of the bursting of the cylinder is not known. It is
suspected that a possible leakage in the gas pipe triggered the blast. It took fire-
brigades almost four hours to control the fire. The police have registered a case of
accident. The injured persons have been admitted to the nearest hospital.
