Mathematics-II (Probability & Statistics) - Course Oultine
COURSE OUTLINE
Course Description:
This course offers a hands-on, practical introduction to the principles of Probability and Statistics, with a strong
emphasis on practical implementation. It covers descriptive statistics, probability theory, random variables,
probability distributions, inferential statistics, and hypothesis testing. Students will not only learn theoretical
concepts but will also apply these ideas through programming and real-time data analysis. Equipping students
with the tools and techniques to analyze, visualize, and interpret data in real-world scenarios. The course is
designed to bridge the gap between statistical, probabilistic theory and its application in areas like Machine
Learning, Data Analytics, and Data Science.
Syllabus:
● Data Visualization: Histogram, Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Box Plot, Scatterplot
● Probability Basics: Sample Space, Events, Probability Laws (Addition, Multiplication)
● Conditional Probability and Marginal Probability
● Mutually Exclusive and Independent Events
● Bayes' Theorem, the Law of Total Probability
● Frequentist vs Bayesian Probability
● Allen B. Downey. Think Stats: Exploratory Data Analysis in Python (2nd Edition), O'Reilly Media.
● Sheldon Ross. Introduction to Probability and Statistics for Engineers and Scientists (5th Edition),
