Upgrade Assistant in Teamcenter 14

▪ Upgrade Assistant utility to help you determine impact to server-side


customization extension applications when you upgrade to target
Teamcenter version release.
▪ It will generate the report in CSV format.

▪ It evaluates whether custom code needs to be reworked before


upgrade. This utility will find out the what are the ITK API are
deprecated before upgrade, what action need to be applied for future
work and it will also give you Replacement server side ITK API so that
easy for Teamcenter developer to do required changes in Server-Side
Customization before upgrade.

How to use this?

▪ Download the upgrade assistant following zip file from Siemens


Support center.
▪ Tc14.0_UpgradeAssistantITKReporter_wntx64.zip
▪ Extract it to local directory.
▪ Install the Upgrade Assistant.
▪ Set the following Environment variable.
o MSDEV_HOME= Set the Visual Studio installation directory\vc
o Set path=%TC_ROOT%\perl\bin
▪ Open the Teamcenter Command prompt and navigate to ITK reporter
bin folder.
▪ TcUpgradeAssistantITKReporter.bat -h

Generate an Upgrade Assistant report using utility


Argument Description
-lib= Specifies path to custom applications (dll files).
-from_release= Specifies your current version, this argument is
optional.
-out= Specifies the output file and path for the upgrade
Assistant report.
-h Display the help for the utility.

For Example:

1) To generate an Upgrade Assistant report into a specific directory:


Use the following command.
TcUpgradeAssistantITKReporter.bat -lib=C:\TCLIB\custom_dllname.dll
-out=C:\TCLIB\UpdradeAssistant.csv

2) It will generate the report in CSV format.

3) Open the CSV and check the report.

Benefits:

• Easy to find out the Deprecated ITK API before upgrade to next
release.
• Once report generate you can get the categorised information of
deprecated ITK API used, what are the library used? what action
need to apply? Replacement ITK API and many more.
• No need to separately build and compile the existing server-side
code on next Teamcenter release version.
• Easy to get the current existing multiple DLL information before
upgrade in single utility.
• It help you to impact of server -side customization when you
upgrade to target release.
