Abstract

This study investigates the Influence of Mobile Application

Development Projects to the Design Complexity on User Satisfaction among
Information and Communication Technology at San Juan Senior High School.
With the rapid growth of mobile technology, students are increasingly
engaging in developing their own application, which provides them with
practical experience and satisfaction. Through a surveys with ICT students
who have participated in the mobile application development projects, we
found that design complexity has a direct correlation with user satisfaction.
The study highlights the while more intricate designs can lead to higher
satisfaction levels if executed effectively, poorly manage complexity can
hinder user satisfaction and usability. The results of this study implications for
educators and curriculum developers, suggesting ways to balance teaching
design complexity with user-focused design strategies for more impactful
learning experience.

Chapter I

Background of the study

The rapid advancement of mobile technology has led to a significant

increase in the demand for skilled mobile app developers. Educational

institutions have responded by incorporating mobile app development into

their Information and communication technology Curricula providing students

with opportunities to gain practical experience in this rapidly envolving Field.

However the process of designing and developing user Friendly and

engaging mobile applications presents unique challenges, particularly in the

context of educational setting.

According to Thomas G.(2021) We are in an era where a lot of

disruptive technologies that change the entire perspective of the market are

arriving very often. One such is the emergence of Mobile App Development,

which completely changed the way users utilized software. Even though

software development generally meant a stand-alone or Web application in

the past, now it has enormous space given to Mobile App Development.

Standalone technologies demanded the user to have a Personal Computer at

least, with them to utilize their applications. However, since the platform on

which an app can be deployed is just a mobile phone, the target audience for

this type of application development becomes manifold. App development that

targets handheld devices has now become a standard by which services

reach the target audience faster since almost everyone has access to a

mobile device. The App Development industry has only grown in leaps and

bounds ever since its inception. This paper discusses in detail the Mobile App

Development Industry and its predominance in India. Objectives: To analyse

and understand the Mobile App Development Industry worldwide and in India,

to understand the preference, usage, revenue, cost, and scope of App

Development in India and to perform a SWOC Analysis for the Mobile App

Development Industry.

Design/Methodology/Approach: A detailed analysis of the Mobile App

Development Industry is done by various secondary data sources such as

websites and blogs. Some Scholarly research articles are also referred to

understand the challenges in the industry. Findings/Result: Based on the

SWOC Analysis of the Mobile App Development Industry, we can say that this

industry is going to be one of the most sought-after industries especially in a

pandemic-stricken world. Originality/Value: This paper, analyses various

aspects of the Mobile App Development Industry. Based on the analysis, the

current and future state.

Review Of Related Literature

The influence of mobile application development projects on design

complexity and user satisfaction among Grade 12 Information and

Communication Technology (ICT) students is a pertinent area a research this

review synthesizes recent literature from 2019 to 2024,focusing on how

design complexity impacts user satisfaction and the potential action can be

taken to enhance user experience in mobile app development projects

Computer Applications Engineering education(2024) This article

presents a descriptive correlational, and quantitative study investigating the

learning process of under construction engineering and architecture students.

The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of an alternative learning method

compared to traditional approaches in engineering architecture and

construction education.

In the context of mobile application development the end user

computing satisfaction (EUCS) model provides of framework for

understanding how various factors. Including design complexity a affect user

satisfaction pratomo et all(2023) highlight that the EUSCS model evaluates

user satisfaction. Based on the relationship between mobile application

development projects design complexity and user satisfaction among

Grade(ICT) Information and Technology Communication students is an

important area of study, especially in educational.

Page | 15
Several factors can influence user satisfaction in mobile application

development projects ,including usability ,functionality and esthetics .As study

a(2023) found that usability is the most important factors influencing user

satisfaction followed by functionally and aesthetics. Another study by

satisfaction is also influence by factors such as perceived of use and

perceived usefulness

In the context of mobile application development the end user

computing satisfaction (EUS) model provides a framework for understanding

how various meaning design complexity effect user satisfaction. Prtomo(2023)

highlights that the EUCS model evaluate user satisfaction based on

content, accuracy ,usability and usability and the overall experience with the

system. The model can be particularly useful for Grade 12 Information and

Communication Technology (ICT) student as they engage in mobile app

development projects allowing them to asses how the design complexity

influence their satisfaction with the final product.

Mobile application development projects often follow structured

methodologies such as the Mobile Application Development Life Cycle

(MADLC), which includes phases like identification, design, development,

testing, and maintenance (Mokhsin, 2023). These phases are crucial as they

help ensure that the applications meet user needs and expectations, thereby

potentially enhancing user satisfaction. The complexity of the design can

significantly effect on mobile game based learning application. For instance, a

study on mobile game-based learning applications highlighted that

incorporating gasification element can improve user engagement and

Page | 16
satisfaction (Isa et al., 2022). This suggests that thoughtful design complexity

when aligned with user satisfaction, can lead to higher satisfaction levels.

worked involved in timers meetings. This stray single out mechanism for

Page | 17
Furthermore, the relationship between mobile application development

projects and design complexity is significant. Research indicates that the

adoption of agile methodologies, such as the MDSIC model, can lead to better

quality applications by emphasizing rapid development and iterative feedback

(Valdéz et al., 2019). This literature approach allows students to refine their

applications based on user feedback, which can help mitigate design

complexity issues that may arise during development. Additionally, the

integration of user-centered design principles can further enhance user

experience in mobile app development projects.

To address the impact of design complexity on user satisfaction,

several recommendations can be made. First, educators should emphasize

the importance of user-centered design principles in mobile application

development curricula. This can be achieved through project-based learning

approaches that encourage students to engage with real users and gather

feedback throughout the development process (Nurbekova et al., 2020).

Second, incorporating agile methodologies into the curriculum can help

students learn how to manage design complexity effectively while maintaining

a focus on user satisfaction (Valdéz et al., 2019). Lastly providing students

with tools and frameworks for evaluating user satisfaction, such as usability

testing and surveys, can help them understand the impact of their design

choices on user experience

the challenges faced by students in ensuring their applications are both
