Bio Gas
Bio Gas
Materials Required
Two plastic bottles (2-litre or similar size, one slightly larger than the
other), Rubber tubing, Balloon, Scissors or craft knife (adult supervision
required), Modeling clay or aquarium sealant, Organic waste (vegetable
scraps, eggshells, etc.), Water
Steps Required
In a larger bottle, carefully cut a small hole near the bottom on the
side and on the smaller bottle, cut a similar hole near the top on the
side.
Insert one end of the rubber tubing through the hole in the larger
bottle. Seal the connection and repeat the sealing process for the
other end as well.
Make another small hole near the top of the smaller bottle which will
act as an actual gas outlet.
Attach the balloon to the gas outlet of the smaller bottle. As the
organic waste decomposes, it will produce biogas and inflate the
balloon.
