ASSIGNMENT

1.What is 2D cel?

Ans. 2D cel animation is a traditional animation technique that involves creating images on
transparent sheets called cels. Each cel contains a different frame of the animation, which
is then layered over static backgrounds. This method allows animators to efficiently create
moving images by reusing backgrounds and only redrawing the elements that change
between frames.

2.What are the hardware requirements for 2D animation?

Ans.The hardware requirements for 2D animation are:-\

-Processor

-RAM

-Graphics

-Storage

-Display

3.Which type of animation uses still frames with a graphic that slightly changes position?

Ans.Stop-motion animation

4.Which animation technique uses a seamless transition to change one image into
another?

Ans.Morphing

5.Differntiate between the following:

a)2D animation and 3D animation

b)Object oriented animation and frame by frame

Ans.a) 2D animation creates movement in a two dimensional space. s. It focuses on

creating characters, storyboards and backgrounds in two-dimensional environment. The
characters can move up and down, left and right.2D animation uses bitmap and vector
graphics to create and edit the animated images. Where as 3D animation operates in
three dimensions (height, width, and depth), allowing for a more realistic appearance. It
involves modeling characters and objects in a virtual 3D space, utilizing keyframes and
rigging, resulting in a high level of realism, with depth and texture. The character moves
toward or away from the viewer in 3D animation.

b)Object oriented animation defines various classes, creates the instances of these
classes and performs operations on the object instance, where as Frame by frame
animation is a technique that is achieved by making slight and successive modifications to
individual pieces of still illustrations, usually drawings, one frame at a time.

6.What are the different types of 2D animation?

Ans.The different tyoes of 2D animation are:-

-Cel Animation [Traditional Animation]

-Digital Animation [Paperless Animation]

-Path Animation

-Stop-motion Animation

-Sand Animation

-Cut-out Animation

-Rotoscoping

-Cinemagraphs

7.Basics of 2D animation.

Ans. The difference between 2D and 3D animation is the appearance of depth. 2D

animation is a flat animation and all the actions happen in the x-y axes. 3D animation
includes an extra dimension and that is the z axis.

In animation, a walk cycle is a series of frames or illustrations drawn in sequence that loop
to create an animation of a walking character.

Walk cycles can be broken up into 4 key frames, namely Forward Contact Point, Passing
Pose1, Back Contact Point and Passing Pose 2. The apparent move of the legs, many more
details are necessary for a convincing walk cycle, like animation timing, movement of the
arms, head and torsion of the whole body.

8.What is object oriented animation?

Ans.Object oriented animation defines various classes, creates the instances of these
classes and performs operations on the object instance.

9.What is frame by frame animation?

Ans. Frame by frame animation is a technique that is achieved by making slight and
successive modifications to individual pieces of still illustrations, usually drawings, one
frame at a time.

10.What is another name for vector animation?

Ans.Path Animation

11.What is cel animation.

Ans.Cel animation also known as traditional is based on a series of frames or cels in which
the object is redrawn in each consecutive cel to depict motion.

12.Difference between stop motion animation and cut-out animation.

Ans.Stop-motion is used to describe animation created by physically manipulating real life

objects and photographing them one frame of film at a time. Cut-out Animation is made by
cut pieces of paper card fabric etc. They are placed under glass and then a frame is taken
and cut out is moved slightly and again a new frame is taken.

13.Describe flash animation?

Ans.Flash animation is a cut-out animation but in digital form. It uses the basics of cutout
animation. A Flash Animation or Flash Cartoon is an animated film which is created by
Adobe Flash or similar animation software and often distributed in the .swf file format.
Flash animation is used to design web animation.

14.What is difference between .jpg, .gif, .png, .swf, and animated .giffles?

Ans. .jpg is best used for photographs, .gif uses simple graphics and animations with
limited colors, .png offers lossless compression and full transparency, .swf is used for
interactive vector animations, and animated .gif combines multiple frames into a single
looping animation.

15.What is the meaning of tween?

Ans.Tween refers to the process of generating intermediate frames between two

keyframes to create smooth transitions and motion. It helps to fill in the gaps and make
animations look fluid by defining the starting and ending points of an action.

16.What are the 3 forms of tweening?

Ans.The three forms of tweenig are:-

-Motion Tweening

-Classic Tweening

-Shape Tweenig

17.What is motion tweening?

Ans. A motion tween animates symbols moving in space; when you create a motion tween,
then you can click on any frame in the tween, move the symbol on that frame, and a motion
path animating the frames between that frame and the next key frame.

18.What is shape tweening?

Ans. A classic tween works the way old motion tweens used to, in versions CS3 and earlier.
In this kind of motion tween, you’d have to manually create all your key frames and
connect all of them with motion tweens that followed point A to point B.

19.How to change color and size?

Ans. To change color and size in Adobe Animate, select the object, use the Color panel to
adjust the color, and drag the corner handles or use the Transform panel to resize it.

20.Differentiate between the following:

a)Limited animation or cut-out animation

b).fla and .swiffle

c)Bitmap graphics and vector graphics

Ans.a) Limited animation uses fewer frames for choppier movement, while cut-out
animation involves manipulating flat, two-dimensional characters and objects frame by
frame.

b) The .fla file is the editable source format used in Adobe Animate, while the .swf file is the
compiled output format for playback.

c)Bitmap images (like JPEGs and PNGs) have a fixed resolution and can lose quality when
resized. They are best for detailed images like photographs. Vector graphics are images
defined by mathematical equations, allowing them to be scaled infinitely without loss of
quality, making them ideal for logos and illustrations.

21.What are the advantages and limitations of flash animation?

Ans. Flash animation is beneficial for its interactivity, scalability with vector graphics, and
precise animation control. However, it faces drawbacks such as performance issues,
security vulnerabilities, declining support from major browsers, and a challenging learning
curve for beginners.

22.How to use flash drawing tools?

Ans. To use Flash's drawing tools, select a tool (like Pencil or Brush), adjust options, draw
on the stage, edit as needed, and save your work regularly.
