The impact of Social Media on Teenagers (After)

Research indicates that 78% of teenagers cannot go a day without spending an average

of five hours on social media. Over the past decade, social media use among teenagers has

skyrocketed, embedding itself as a central aspect of daily life for most young people. Instead

of engaging in their own lives, many teenagers dedicate a significant portion of their time to

watching and comparing themselves to others through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and

YouTube. This growing dependence on social media intensifies with the rapid evolution and

popularity of these platforms. While some believe that social media creates new opportunities

and helps teenagers make new friends, teenagers should be banned from social media because

it increases stress levels, decreases concentration on their own lives, and can lead to suicidal

thoughts.
