4. PA-GAH
5. PA FAN

The associated dampers in the flue gas and Secondary air side have to be lined up
and operated to match the Fan and GAH operational requirements. Please refer to
section 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 5.3 & 6.3 for the position of the dampers.

Cross train operation –

Doosan recommends to start and stop the gas air heater, ID and FD fans in same
train i.e. SA-GAH-A, ID FANA AND FD FAN A.

However, The SA-GAH,ID FAN and FD fan can be started in any of the following
combinations.
1. SAGAH-A – IDA-FD-A
2. SAGAH-A – IDB-FD-A
3. SAGAH-B – IDA- FDA.
4. SAGAH-B – IDB- FDA.
5. SAGAH-A – IDA- FDB.
6. SAGAH-A – IDB- FDB.
7. SAGAH-B – IDA- FDB.
8. SAGAH-B – IDB- FDB.
When both the trains A &B are in operation should a drive in Train A trip: for
example if ID-FAN A has tripped, then the corresponding FD-FAN-A is tripped i.e
same train drive shall be tripped.

When only one train is in operation for example SA-GAH-A , ID FAN –B AND
FDFAN A are switched on if ID fan –B trips then FD-FAN A is tripped and so on.

Steam and water valves:

The drives shall be suitably interlocked and shall have the possibility of operation in
manual/auto mode. The feedbacks from drives shall be hardwired to the control
system. Fault in drives shall be alarmed. All MOV/Dampers shall operate in On/OFF

3.5 Sector plate drive unit

In order to reduce GAH hot end air leakage and minimize energy loss, the GAH
is equipped with hot end sector plate drive system. In operation, the leakage control
System will move the hot end sector plates toward or away from the rotor, to
maintain the radial seal clearance at pre-set temperature. This provides leakage
control at particular operating load
RECOMMENDED WRITE-UP AND SCHEME ON BOILER INTERLOCKS
Document No: DT12007-IC-D2001 Page 9 of 59 Issue: G

Each GAH is provided with two sector plate drive units.

The sector plate position is adjusted by 4 preset positions information (Retract,
intermediate position 1 and 2, and Insert Position). The preset positions are
determined by considering the following condition;

1) Thermal expansion for post, trunnion and housing;

2) Turn down of rotor by thermal deformation;
3) Gas and air temperature;
4) Boiler load (TMCR, 100%, 75%, 50% etc…)
5) Gap under the design condition.

The operating philosophy, logic flowchart, the set points for sector plate insert and
retract are mentioned in Document number 9548-102-PVI-X006 (GAH write-up).

3.6 Fire Detecting System (FDS)

Thermo couples (TC) are equipped in the Gas outlet duct to detect the excess high
temperature of AH. Two types of alarm are generated from this system,” AH Fire”
(10HLD10/20/30/40AP001_XB04) and “TC burn out”
((10HLD10/20/30/40AP001_XB05). These signals are sent to BOP DDCMIS.

AH fire is a temperature high alarm (>211 Deg. C for PAH , >185 Deg. C for SAH)
and TC burn is temperature low alarm (<0 Deg. C both PAH & SAH).

At the local panel, “RESET” button is provided to reset the alarm. The TC is
connected to the Local Panel which outputs the alarm signal as on/off (AH fire or TC
burn out). The fire thermocouples 4-20 Ma signal is connected to BOP-DDCMIS. 7
No’s of fire thermocouple (4-20 mA) signal is provided for SA-GAH and 4 no’s of fire
thermocouple (4-20 mA) signal are provided for PA-GAH.

The set points of GAH fire alarm for Primary and Secondary GAH are 211 and 185
deg C, respectively. For GAH fire case, operator shall confirm the actual situation at
site to avoid the action by improper alarm. After the confirmation of fire inlet valve
for Fire Extinguishing Device shall be opened manually.

For fire extinguishing, when fire is detected, first of all we have to check the inside of
GAH by observation port at site. If fire is confirmed, we have to decide emergency
shut down of boiler and start the fire fighting. GAH manufacturer insist that the
determination is very important. It should be confirmed by human. Therefore,
manual fire fighting is provided.

10HLD10AP001_XB03 & 10HLD20AP001_XB03)

Proximity switches are equipped at the Support Trunnion connected to the Support
Bearing. In case that two of three proximity switches detect no rotation, “GAH No
rotation” signal is sent to BOP- DDCMIS.

3.8 Soot blower for AH Lower Side (SA-GAH-A & B: 10HCB80AT183 &
10HCB80AT184, PA-GAH-A & B : 10HCB80AT182 & 10HCB80AT185)

the first stage spray water system should not be used. The second stage
spray will not be used below approximately 10% steam flow (to be
confirmed during commissioning)-The reason to restrict the allowable spray
load is to prevent from saturated steam entering the turbine. Generally, it is
not sure that the inlet steam temperature of first stage attemperator is high
enough to vaporize the spray water at low load/start-up operation because
the primary SH heating surface which is located at convective backpass
area is not enough to raise the temperature and also gas temperature is
not high. On the contrary, the inlet steam temperature of secondary
attemperator is high comparing with first attemperator inlet temperature.
Also, the absorbed Pri-. SH heat is transferred to the secondary SH below
20% load even though the load is between 10% to 20%. Secondary SH is
located at radiation area. During low load radiation heat absorption rate is
higher than convection heat absorption. The suggested load can be
adjustable by monitoring the operating conditions, especially SH steam
temperature during commissioning period.)
