5 Character: The Traveling Wrestler

Meet "Thunderclap Jack", a charismatic, muscle-bound barbarian who dazzles crowds


with his over-the-top performances and grapples his foes into submission! He’s a
showman at heart and uses his strength and flair to entertain and conquer.
Race: Half-Orc

Why Half-Orc?
They gain Savage Attacks, perfect for landing devastating unarmed strikes.
Relentless Endurance keeps him on his feet, even after a crushing blow—
great for showmanship.
The natural Strength and Constitution bonuses make him a powerhouse in the
ring.

Class: Barbarian (Path of the Battlerager)

(Will multiclass into Bard later.)

Why Barbarian?
Barbarians thrive in melee combat, perfect for an unarmed grappler.
Rage adds bonus damage to unarmed strikes and gives resistance to damage,
making him tanky.
Battlerager (from Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide) enhances grappling and
unarmed combat. Battleragers excel in melee without traditional weapons, which fits
the wrestler theme.

Starting Stats (Point Buy)

Strength: 16 (+3)
Essential for grappling and dealing damage with unarmed strikes.
Dexterity: 12 (+1)
Adds some flair to those acrobatic wrestling moves.
Constitution: 16 (+3)
Keeps him durable in and out of the ring.
Intelligence: 8 (-1)
Jack’s not here for books; he’s here to throw people.
Wisdom: 10 (+0)
Enough to not get caught off guard.
Charisma: 14 (+2)
Vital for his crowd-pleasing antics and future Bard abilities.

Jack can find places to perform in any settlement, earning food, lodging,
or fans with his wrestling shows.
Skills: Acrobatics, Performance
Tool Proficiencies: Disguise Kit, Musical Instrument (Drums, for dramatic show
entrances)

Starting Gear

No Weapons: Jack fights with his fists.


Custom “Wrestler’s Costume”: A flashy, glittery outfit with a cape that’s
perfect for entrances.
Drums: For his own entrance music!

Barbarian Abilities (Level 1-5 Progression)


Unarmored Defense (Lv. 1): Jack’s wrestling moves look better without clunky
armor, and this keeps him nimble and durable.
Rage (Lv. 1): Increases his unarmed strike damage and makes him resistant to
physical damage.
Reckless Attack (Lv. 2): Allows him to attack with advantage, embodying the
risk-taking nature of a wrestler.
Danger Sense (Lv. 2): Adds to his reflexes for dodging traps and incoming
moves.
Path of the Battlerager (Lv. 3):
Battlerager Armor: Although the armor bonus doesn’t apply here, Jack’s
unarmed strikes count as weapons, enhancing his grappling.
Ability Score Increase (Lv. 4):
+2 Strength (to 18) or pick the Tavern Brawler Feat to make unarmed strikes
hit harder and improve grappling.
Extra Attack (Lv. 5): Jack can hit with two unarmed strikes per turn, giving
him a flurry of powerful wrestling moves.

Multiclass: Bard (College of Eloquence)

At Level 6, Jack adds Bard levels to embrace his inner showman:

Bardic Inspiration (Lv. 1 Bard): Perfect for hyping up the crowd or allies in
battle.
College of Eloquence (Lv. 3 Bard):
Silver Tongue: Jack’s showboating can now convince or deceive almost
anyone.
Unfailing Inspiration: His Bardic Inspiration never goes to waste, keeping
allies confident.
Spellcasting:
Jack learns spells like Vicious Mockery (taunts opponents mid-fight) and
Enhance Ability (to supercharge his grappling).

Fighting Style: Grappling and Unarmed Combat

Tavern Brawler Feat:


Makes unarmed strikes stronger (d4 base damage).
Allows grappling as a bonus action after an unarmed strike.

Athletics Expertise (via Bard’s Jack of All Trades):


Gives him high grappling checks, making him nearly impossible to escape
from.

Grappling Strategy:
Use the Grapple action to pin foes, keeping them from moving.
Once grappled, use Prone maneuvers to slam them down, gaining advantage on
all follow-up strikes.
