One sunny afternoon, Maya was playing in her garden when she heard a faint meowing sound. She
paused and looked around, trying to find where the sound was coming from. At first, she thought it was
her imagination, but then she heard the sound again, louder this time. She followed the noise to the back
of the garden, near the large oak tree. There, she saw a tiny kitten, trembling and hiding under a bush.

The kitten was small, with white fur and bright blue eyes. It looked frightened and alone. Maya’s heart
melted at the sight. She slowly approached the kitten, trying not to scare it. "It's okay, little one," she said
softly. "I won't hurt you." The kitten meowed again and took a hesitant step towards her.

Maya reached out her hand, and the kitten sniffed it cautiously before nuzzling against it. Maya gently
picked up the kitten and held it close, feeling its soft fur and hearing its quiet purr. She decided to take the
kitten inside her house.

Inside, Maya's mother was baking cookies. "Mom, look what I found!" Maya exclaimed, showing her the
kitten. Her mother smiled and said, "Oh, what a cute kitten! It must be lost. We should take care of it and
try to find its owner."

Maya nodded and fetched a bowl of milk for the kitten. The kitten lapped up the milk eagerly, looking
much happier now. Maya named it Snowy because of its white fur. Over the next few days, they put up
posters around the neighborhood and asked their neighbors if anyone had lost a kitten. However, no one
came forward to claim Snowy.

As days passed, Snowy became a part of Maya's family. She played with the kitten every day and took
care of it. Maya was happy to have found a new friend, and Snowy seemed just as happy to have a safe
