How Chat GPT Changed the Education in Universities

Introduction

At a minimum, Chat-GPT has altered how universities give coursework. This applies to all

essays, articles, and journals. Chat-GPT has compelled universities to step up their performance.

The students have used it as an effective tool for learning a new language. It has been the

diversified mode of technology applied by universities (Firat, 2023). It helps students strengthen

their communication ability by offering immediate pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary

assistance. Students can have discussions with Chat-GPT in whatever language they're acquiring,

which will assist them in improving their ability to talk and listen. Therefore, to ascertain how

the Chat Gpt has changed education in University, the annotated bibliography aims to review the

articles gathered to expound on the related subject.

Annotated Bibliography 1

Firat, M. (2023). What ChatGPT means for universities: Perceptions of scholars and

students. Journal of Applied Learning and Teaching, 6(1).

https://doi.org/10.37074/jalt.2023.6.1.22

This article explored the impact of Chat-GPT, powered by an artificial intelligence language

approach, on learners and higher education institutions by analyzing the perspectives of scholars

and learners. The study conducted a thematic analysis based on remarks from 7 scholars and 14

Ph.D. scholars from Turkey, Sweden, Canada, and Australia. The study found that using

artificial intelligence (AI) techniques can boost engagement and fulfillment among students by

freeing up university employees to concentrate on more advanced abilities and guidance. Firat

(2023) found that AI chat-bots enhance student achievement and information continuation,

aligning with the research's overall subject matter of individualized instruction. “The utilization

of AI-based chat-bots in educational activities represents a significant domain for

supporting student engagement and learning processes” (Firat, 2023). Incorporating AI into

educational settings can improve student outcomes, customize guidance, and change the function

of instructors. However, the change presents obstacles to evaluations, digital media proficiency,

and ethics concerns. To get the most out of the positive effects of AI in learning, it's important to

deal with challenges while developing methods for accountable and reasonable deployment. The

article suggested additional studies on AI's potential uses and influences in learning and

developing successful structures for incorporating AI into educational programs, examinations,

and teaching methods. Collaboration among academics, teachers, and politicians can use AI to

transform learning while maintaining a human-centered approach to teaching and learning.

Tajik, E., & Tajik, F. (2023). A comprehensive Examination of the potential application of Chat

GPT in Higher Education Institutions. TechRxiv. Preprint, 1-10.

https://doi.org/10.36227/techrxiv.22589497.v1

Introducing massive language models like Chat GPT has caused an important change in learning.

Chat GPT can produce informal replies to human-generated language, rendering it useful for

tasks like analyzing and answering inquiries in educational institutions. The article used the

exploratory research design to gather the data. “By engaging in back-and-forth conversations

with GPT, students can create meaning and deepen their understanding of the concept by

bridging the gap between GPT’s correct and incorrect responses” (Tajik & Tajik, 2023).

Although GPT has been implemented in universities, there is an absence of thorough analysis of

its efficacy at the macro and micro levels. The research investigated GPT's potential features

from three perspectives: student-facing, teacher-facing, and system-facing techniques. AI-

generated content will enhance communication between instructors, parents, and executives,

leading to better educational outcomes. According to

Tajik & Tajik (2023), Technologies based on artificial intelligence are transforming the

institution of higher learning structures. Openness for innovation in educational institutions

allows AI-powered instruments like Chat-GPT to optimize education, instruction, and

administration, all essential for an institution's effectiveness. GPT will assist educators in

managing assignments, like evaluating and describing assignments, giving them more time to

devote to helping students gain an extensive grasp of new notions. GPT has constraints,

including incapacity to make rational decisions concerning the social and physical universe,

chronological thinking, accurate inaccuracies, prejudice and exclusion, insufficient

consciousness of oneself, accountability, trustworthiness, resilience, and copyright infringement.

higher education. Dempere J, Modugu K, Hesham A and Ramasamy LK (2023) The impact of

ChatGPT on higher education. Front. Educ, 8, 1206936.

https://doi.org/10.3389/feduc.2023.1206936

The article examined the impact of AI chat-bots to communicate, specifically Chat-GPT, on

educational organizations. Information was collected from emphasized research papers,

significant news organizations, and language papers, eliminating states of AI chat-bots. The

review explored different viewpoints on Chat-GPT's opportunity for learning. Advantages

involve study assistance, computerized evaluation, and improved human and computer

relationships. Issues regarding online assessment safety, copyright infringement, job expulsion,

technological understanding gaps, and AI-induced anxiousness have been raised. Dempere et al.

(2023) dictated that Chat-GPT's revolutionary design and adaptable possibilities for learning.

Potential benefits include reduced application, enhanced pupil services, instruction

improvements, study assistance, and raised learner numbers. AI's worldwide growth is

undisputed, and there is an urgent need for Equal oversight in its implementation within higher

education institutions. “AI chat-bots should be subject to some form of regulation due to the risks

associated with a technology capable of human-like writing and answering to a wide range of

topics with advanced levels of fluency and coherence” (Dempere et al., 2023). Instructors

should use artificial intelligence techniques such as Chat-GPT to responsibly and actively reduce

hazards. Academic fraud tends to bring the Chat-GPT down. The research's drawbacks include a

partial assessment of AI's impact on schooling and a lack of implementation recommendations.

However, artificial intelligence (AI) tools like Chat-GPT offer advantages and disadvantages.

Conclusion

The reviewed articles showed that the use of Chat GPT in educational settings has had

significant consequences, as demonstrated by increases in instructional productivity, the

encouragement of international instruction, the personalization of acquiring knowledge, the

generation of higher-level satisfaction, and the optimization of educational management in terms

of effectiveness and efficiency. Emerging technologies play a critical role in improving the

educational and instructional experience. Learning is more than a mere commodity; it is a

procedure in that learning extends beyond the gaining of understanding. In this context, artificial

intelligence (AI) develops as an emerging technology with immense promise in education.

Systems built with AI might encourage personalized education, responsive to every learner's

prerequisites and preferences.
