First Assignment

Write a short but a meaningful note on computer security and explain its
three primary goals.

Answer

Computer Security:- Computer security refers to the measures taken to protect computer
systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, attacks, damage, or theft. It is
essential in safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring the functionality of systems in
an increasingly digital world. By addressing potential vulnerabilities, computer security helps
maintain trust and reliability in technology.

Three Primary Goals of Computer Security

– Confidentiality:- Ensures that information is accessible only to authorized individuals or
systems. It protects sensitive data from being disclosed to unauthorized parties,
maintaining privacy and preventing data breaches.
– Integrity:- Ensures that data and systems remain accurate, complete, and unaltered. This
goal protects against unauthorized modifications, whether accidental or malicious,
ensuring that the information remains trustworthy.
– Availability:- Ensures that systems, data, and services are accessible to authorized users
when needed. This goal protects against disruptions caused by cyberattacks, such as
denial-of-service (DOS), hardware failures, or natural disasters.
