It was my long desire to serve Education Sector of Bangladesh, being a
backbone sector of any nation. On request of Chairman of Board of Trustee of
Green University, I joined the University Team. I had the opportunity to develop
number of policy issued. It was appreciated bu all and many of them are
functional till to-date. I got support from all Faculty and Administrative Staffs in
performing by duties and contribute for the University. Few of the sectors were
against accepting changes for good. However, I admire the dedication and
superb skill faculty development of respected Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md.
Golam Samdani Fakir. My salute to him and I wanted to continue my support
to him. However, I had to find a work place where I can contribute more.

Though my tenure was very short, but I could process equalization of Rank
structure of three services of Bangladesh Navy and Air Forces, related to
Army. I also started to have Joint Staff Level meeting of three services, to
develop joint approach of three services.

Proudly served as Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army for long 5 years,
so far it is the longest tenure of one CGS. I had the opportunity to work with the
then Chief Gen Mubeen to transform Army Modernization and Reorganization
to meet future challenges. During my tenure, Army deployed in very difficult
UN Missions, like Mali and Central Africa. First time Army Headquarters moved
out of Cantonment and deployed in the Field for Army Level Exercise.
After the bloody Mutiny of Bangladesh Rifles the total command and control
structure of the forces were collapsed and there existed no trust between
officers and others. Though there were many serving Major Generals,
but Government trusted me as a "superseded Brig Gen" to take over the
command of shattered forces of BDR, as Director General (a post for Maj
Gen), when I had no previous knowledge about functioning of the force. It
was a Fire Fighting and journey to unknown. By the support of the then BDR
officers, newly joined officers, BDR Soldiers, Government and various Defense
agencies, Legal experts, common people and the Media of the country, I
could stabilize the situation and restore Command and Control. Trial process
commenced, plan to reform of the Forces as BGB was made and complete
new Act was Drafted for Government approval. It was a Liberation War for me,
when a newly elected government just started their journey. I was lucky to get
the opportunity to serve the Nation.
