8.3 Input signal Descriptions

8.3.1 Continuous Fluoroscopy

If you want to run continuous fluoroscopy, you need FL_REQ signal. FL_REQ signal to make the camera to be
capable of filming continuous fluoroscopy. Camera uses this signal to set ND filter, iris, and image processing
parameters. If everything is ready, it outputs FL_ACK signal to allow fluoroscopy filming.
At this time PF signal should be inactive.

FLREQ
It generates x-ray while in active high state.
Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

[Figure 8-3 Continuous Fluoroscopy]

8.3.2 Pulsed Fluoroscopy

You can use the Pulsed fluoroscopy to reduce exposure to patient or to acquire a little noiseless image. In this
mode, camera and C_ARM controller should be synchronized. If the synchronization between two devices are not
precise enough, it may cause image quality degradation or flickering on the screen.

PF
Pulsed Fluoroscopy Mode operates while in active high state.
Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

PF ON (Pulsed Fluoroscopy X-RAY ON)

While in active high state, the camera captures image.
Generator should output High/Close signal fitting to pulse rate.

Follow the sequence shown below to run Pulsed fluoroscopy.

1) Active PF mode .
2) Enter PF_ON signal corresponding to the frame rate set to Camera’s VD_OUT signal.
3) The camera outputs FL_ACK signal for Pulsed Fluoroscopy.
4) The generator generates X-ray following the FL_ACK signal.

8.3.3 Radiography mode (Snap shot mode)

Snap shot mode can be very useful tool when users want to see more clear picture in case the picture quality is
excellent or lesions are shown on the picture. Noises can be eliminated by increasing the amount of X-ray radiation
higher than that of radiography.
There are 3 signals related to this mode: 2 input signals and 1 output signal.

PREPREQ (Prepare request)

It switches the camera into Snap shot mode. Camera uses this signal to set ND filter, iris, and image processing
parameters. Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

EXPREQ (Exposure request)

This signal requests to take X-ray picture. The camera generates a signal to allow taking X-ray picture to generate
X-ray according to this signal.
Generator should outputs High/Close signal

The following figure shows how the X-ray pictures are taken in sequential method.
Once PREP_REQ signal is entered, the camera mode is changed. When EXP_REQ is entered, it goes into X-ray
picture taking mode. When it is ready to take X-ray picture, it generates EXP_ACK signal.

[Figure 8-5 Single Radiography]

EX ON
It Indicates X-ray exposure on.
It generates x-ray while in active high state.

SPOT
Spot Mode operates while in active high state.
For Spot Mode, Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

Date 12/17/2009 Page 29/73 VIEWORKS Co., Ltd

RA22-08C-003

PREPREQ_SPOT
This signal requests spot exposure.
Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

8.3.4 Polarity (H_REV, V_REV)

It reverses images to horizontal or vertical directions. Users can set the direction using adjustment program in initial
image.
H_REV
While it is in active high state, the program mirrors images in horizontal direction.
Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

V_REV
While it is in active high state, the program flips images in vertical direction.
Generator should outputs High/Close signal.

8.3.5 I.I mode Switching

This feature changes camera settings according to the changes in Image intensifier’s Zoom mode. In reality, if you
want to switch to I.I mode, you have to use additional I.I connector on the camera to connect I.I to power and to
enter mode switch signal.

11.3 Port Setting

Port setting is the menu to set the Active States of the Generator Interface Signals.
Port setting is for both the input signal from the Generator and the output signal to the Generator and it varies
depending on the input and output characteristics of the Generator. Referring to the Chapter 8 in this manual,
select High/Open or Low/Close according to the input and output characteristics of the Generator.

In case of selecting High/Open, the relevant input and output signals are used in active state in the condition of High
Level for the voltage type and in the condition of Open for the contact type.
In case of selecting Low/Close, on the contrary, the relevant input and output signals are used in active state in the
condition of Low Level for the voltage type and in the condition of Close for the contact type.

After finishing all setting, click the “SAVE” button located at the bottom part to store the settings.

11.5 Radiography Timing Setting

It is to control the timing to acquire Radiography images.

Exact timing setting according to the characteristics of the Generator is necessary to acquire right images.

Date 12/17/2009 Page 55/73 VIEWORKS Co., Ltd

RA22-08C-003

1) A Timing : Time from PREP_REQ signal input to EXP_ACK signal output.

Time for the preparation of radiography of SLIMPAC II and Generator.
Proper setting values of TIMING are 900 to1200ms.

2) B Timing : Time from EXP_ACK signal output to CAM_SYNC output. Timing is generally set as “0 ms”
but in case of the single phase Generator there might be considerable delay time from
EXP_ACK signal input. The delay is compensated with V timing. The reason why such
compensation is necessary is that the noise characteristics may be deteriorated due to the
excessively long C timing if the C timing is decided considering such delay.
To measure the delay time, the difference between Fluoroscopy KV and radiography KV shall
be big enough. (The delay amount is maximized due to the moving time of SLIDAC)

3) C Timing : Time to store the light signals generated by X-ray to the electronic signals.
This shall be set longer than the Radio Backup Timing of X-ray Generator not to lose the
amount of light in storing the signals. It is desirable to record the exact timing by measuring it
with oscilloscope after setting in 2000ms because X-ray may not be generated by the timing at
the initial setting stage in case of single phase Generator. But it is needed to set the C timing not
to exceed 1000ms if possible
