Gray level

Gray level refers to a scalar measure of intensity that ranges from black to grays
and finally to white.
Resolutions
Resolution is defined as the smallest number of discernible detail in an image.
Spatial resolution is the smallest discernible detail in an image and gray level resolution
refers to the smallest discernible change is gray level.
pixel
A digital image is composed of a finite number of elements each of which has a particular
location or value. These elements are referred to as pixels or image elements or picture
elements or pels elements.
image translation and scaling
Image translation means reposition the image from one co-ordinate location to another along
straight line path.
Scaling is used to alter the size of the object or image (ie) a co-ordinate system is scaled by a factor.

Sclera: It is a white visible portion. It is made up of dense connective tissue and protects the inner
parts.
Conjunctiva: It lines the sclera and is made up of stratified squamous epithelium. It keeps our
eyes moist and clear and provides lubrication by secreting mucus and tears.
Cornea: It is the transparent, anterior or front part of our eye, which covers the pupil and the iris.
The main function is to refract the light along with the lens.
Iris: It is the pigmented, coloured portion of the eye, visible externally. The main function of the
iris is to control the diameter of the pupil according to the light source.
Pupil: It is the small aperture located in the centre of the Iris. It allows light to enter and focus on
the retina. Lens: It is a transparent, biconvex, lens of an eye. The lens is attached to the ciliary
body by ligaments.
Retina: It is the innermost layer of the eye. It is light sensitive and acts as a film of a camera.
Optic nerve: It is located at the posterior portion of the eyes. The optic nerves carry all the nerve
impulses from the retina to the human brain for perception.
Aqueous Humour: It is a watery fluid present between the cornea and the lens. It nourishes the
eye and keeps it inflated.

Histogram
The histogram of a digital image with gray levels in the range [0, L-1] is a discrete function
h(rk)=nk.
rk-kth gray level; nk-number of pixels in the image having gray level rk
categories of image enhancement
Spatial domain refers to image plane itself & approaches in this category are based on direct
manipulation of picture image.
Frequency domain methods based on modifying the image by fourier transform
Spatial Domain: An image can be represented in the form of a 2D matrix where each element of
the matrix represents pixel intensity. This state of 2D matrices that depict the intensity distribution
of an image is called Spatial Domain.
The gray level transformation is given by the expression:
s = T(r)
where, s and r is the intensity value of g and f value of the point (x, y)
