1. INTRODUCTION
This system level section is divided into two parts:
Pre-conditions.
• The "automatic BDAS procedures" must pass successfully
• The "Max KW adjustment" must have been performed
Both procedures are described in section 14 "NTDAC" of this manual.
F0 determination:
To prevent the message: Max RF-field exceeded, detected by PU-coil, the attenuator(s) must have
been installed in series at the PU coil inputs of the Coilint (MME-X8 and MME-X11).
These attenuators are delivered with the QBC and T/R-Headcoil and have been installed at Section
15.
________________
Specifications:
• Value for Intera 0.5T: Resonance frequency at system installation is: 21.295 MHz ± 5 kHz.
• Value for Intera 1.0T: Resonance frequency at system installation is: 42.595 MHz ± 10 kHz.
• Value for Intera 1.5T: Resonance frequency at system installation is: 63.897 MHz ± 15 kHz.
• Value for Intera 3.0T: Resonance frequency at system installation is:127.787 MHz ± 30 kHz.
When this specification is not met, repeat the fine adjustment field strength according section 16,
paragraph 3.1
3.1. PRE-CONDITIONS
• The "automatic BDAS procedures" must have been executed.
• The "RF amplifier adjustments" must have been executed.
• Resonance Frequency Determination must have been done.
• The RF door must be closed.
3.2. POWER REFERENCE AND PICKUP COIL MEASUREMENT (0.5T, 1.0T AND 1.5 SYSTEMS)
NOTE
The Power Reference measurement and Pickup triplevel measurement are influenced by the
position of the pickup coils. In these measurements errors will be generated when the positioning is
not in specification. The Pickup coil sensitivity is the sensitivity [V/uT] of the Pickup coils measured
with a known B1 field. With the measured voltage the sensitivity is calculated. When the found
pickup coil sensitivity value is too high, the pickup coils are too close to the QBC and should be
moved further away from the QBC. Use 2 mm step at the time for both pickup coils. When the
found pickup coil sensitivity value is too low the pickup coils should be moved towards the QBC.
_______________
NOTE
Due to the tolerances in the used hardware and signal levels, sometimes the Pickup-coil triplevel
adjustment will not pass even after the Power Reference measurement did pass successfully. This
because the detected triplevel is outside the specified range. In this case it may be necessary to
reposition the pickup-coils. Obviously, the Power Reference Measurement must be repeated after
changing the position of the pickup-coils. Advice is to move the pickup-coil ± 2 mm towards the
bodycoil and repeat mentioned procedures.
_______________
CAUTION
The bottle phantoms used for 3.0T systems differ from the ones used for other field strength.
They are filled with mineral oil.
________________
For the Intera 3.0T the Power reference and PU coil measurement must be executed with the Intera 3.0T
Transmit/Receive QHC and the 1ltr bottle filled with mineral oil.
For details on positioning of the 1 ltr bottle, please refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Figure 1 - The 1 l bottle on the 3T holder Figure 2 - The 1 l bottle in the T/R head coil
NOTE
Because of the three installed attenuators in the PU-coil line, the PU-coil signal is probably is too
low. The value "Pickup coil sensitivity" therefore can be out of specification (too low). When
applicable, ignore it at this point and answer "YES" after the question:
This ensures that all relevant values are stored in the software archive.

NOTE
If you decide to repeat this procedure, make sure that you add the new found value to the previous
value present in the hardware parameters.

4.2.6. PARALLEL MODE X AND Y GRADIENT STRENGHT OF THE INTERA NOVA/QUASAR DUAL
For Intera Nova / Quasar Dual systems, repeat paragraph’s 4.2 until 4.2.5 using scan batch
GA_XY_Explorer. The gradient gain values must be stored under ‘par-grad. gain adjusts[%]’ within the
tuned hardware parameters.
6. In the batch, SCOUT scans and the scan 'GA1:Z_grad' will be performed automatically.
7. Press: Ok after the batch has finished successfully.
NOTE
If you decide to repeat this procedure, make sure that you add the new found value to the previous
value present in the hardware parameters.

8. SAFETY ACTIONS
8.1. INTRODUCTION
For safety reasons several functions must be tested. Write down the test results in the MRL (section 22).
1. The scan must stop if one of the stop buttons is pressed ( on the console or in the RF-room )
2. If the RF room door is opened, the scan must stop
3. The table movement must stop if the finger protection plate is pressed
4. A warning message must be displayed if the Helium overpressure is too low
5. A warning message must be displayed if the Airflow is too low
6. A warning message must be displayed if the temperature of the gradient coil is too high
After the preparation phase the scanner starts its sequence. Select after a while the <STOP SCAN>
function. The scan must stop.
Stop scan function, with the key-pad <STOP> button at the front of the magnet.
1. Start a scan from the console and when scanning, open the RF door, the scan must stop. (Connector

The table movement must stop, if the finger protection plate is pressed:
1. Move the table outwards by pressing the patient table movement knob. Activate the finger protection
plate
2. The table movement must stop. The motor of the hydraulic system must stop immediately
3. Move the table downwards by pressing the same knob
4. During the downwards movement press against the finger protection plate and check that the table
movement stops.
The tabletop release buttons are located on the patient support left and right side.
Check that the tabletop can be moved freely without friction after activating the left tabletop release button.
Repeat this for the right tabletop release button.
Check that the tabletop of the patient support can be moved horizontally without friction after activating the
MANUAL switch at the PICU.
