 INTRODUCTION

❑ GATE is a Online National Level Examination conducted for ME ( Master of

Engineering), M Tech ( Master in Technology), PhD admissions & PSUs by
Top 7 IITs (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and
Roorkee) & IISc Bangalore on a rotational basis on behalf of MHRD, Govt of
India.
❑ GATE Exam is an Entrance exam that test the comprehensive understanding
in various undergraduate level subjects in Engineering ,Technology , Science,
Architecture & Humanities.
❑ IISc Bengaluru is the Organizing Institute for GATE 2024.
❑ The GATE 2024 exam will be conducted on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024.

The CPSEs meeting the following eligibility criteria are considered for Maharatna status:

❑ Having Navratna status.

❑ Listed on Indian stock exchange with minimum prescribed public shareholding under
SEBI.

❑ An average annual turnover of more than Rs 25,000 crore during the last three years.

❑ An average annual net worth of more than Rs 15,000 crore during the last three
years.

❑ An average annual net profit after tax of more than Rs 5,000 crore during the last
three years.

❑ Should have significant global presence/international operations.

❑ First of there needs to be a score of 60 out of 100 for the below parameters.
❑ Earnings per share.
❑ The ratio of net profit and net worth.
❑ Gross profit as a part of the turnover.
❑ Gross margin calculated as per capital employed.
❑ Cost of manpower to cost of services or production.
❑ There are 13 Navratna PSUs in India.

 MINIRATNA PSUs
▪ Miniratnas, are in two categories, namely, Category- I and Category-II.
▪ Category-I CPSEs should have made profit in the last three years continuously, the pre-tax
profit should have been Rs 30 crore or more in at least one of the three years and should
have a positive net worth.

▪ Category-II CPSEs should have made profit for the last three years continuously and should
have a positive net worth.

▪ Presently, there are 76 Miniratna CPSEs (60 Category-I and 16 Category-II).

and to CCMT for NIT, IIITs, GFTIs M.Tech admission. The Common Offer
Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralised Counselling for M.Tech/ M.Des
(CCMT) conduct the GATE counselling.
❑ Also, state and private universities conduct their own counselling based on
GATE scores.
❑ Although admissions are done on the basis of GATE scores , many institutes
also conduct a written test or interview for shortlisting candidates.
