MODULE NAME: ELEMENTS OF FLEET MANAGEMENT

MODULE CODE: RTT 05102

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND RATIONALE:


In this study we will learn about trains working systems and explore different
levels of fleet management in transport sector. Through Competence Based
Education and Training (CBET) mode of teaching, student will know the
equipment, tools, and regulations and develop skills by attempting assignments,
participate in small group’s interaction, delivery presentation and visiting stations
and yards as part of study tour.

Students will be developed in effective critical thinking, problem solving and


decisions making skills on the fleet management including, route setting, repair,
maintenance, fueling and safety initiatives based on rules, regulations for safety
and efficiency on fleet as a transport officer or stock controller.

At the end of this course, student should be able to:

1) Management Fleet as applied in railway transport.


2) Plan route and scheduling in facilitating fleet operations.
3) Explain and use principles of fleet management for route planning and
vehicle scheduling in railway operations
4) Calculate fuel consumption and managing fuel as per standards applied
in fleet operations
