Mental Health on students

This study aimed to determine the relationship between personality traits, mental health,
academic achievement, confidence, self-control, behavior, and attitudes. It found that
personality traits have both negative and positive effects on academic achievement. The
negative effects include suicide, self-harm, depression, and anxiety. According to the 2020
YOUTruth student survey, over 50% of students at every high school grade level cited
depression, stress, and anxiety as obstacles to learning ism,(2023).

Poor study progress and reduced academic toself-efficacy have been associated with
mental anguish; nevertheless, the underlying mechanisms are unclear and complex. A
longitudinal study conducted in the United States also revealed a direction of influence:
mental health problems predicted delayed academic success (GPA). Approximately 30% of
students who participated in the Fall 2021 National College Health Assessment stated that
their academic performance was negatively impacted by anxiety. Substance abuse, eating
disorders, and suicidal thoughts are among the other prevalent problems Staff Writers,
(2020) et al. Studies conducted in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom have
revealed that university students have greater rates of mental health issues than people in
the general population in the same age range. Some students were reported to be in
significant emotional anguish four times more likely to say they are not good academically
effective and double the likelihood of reporting a delayed study. Progress compared to
students manifesting moderate or few symptoms of mental distress. Of those who reported
severe mental distress, 27% had sought professional help, whereas 31% had considered
seeking help Sund, (2019) et.al.The findings of the current study were beneficial for
shedding light on the neglected area within the broader public health domain. The results are
also helpful in raising awareness not only for students but also for parents and university
administration to plan and design effective intervention strategies to provide proper mental
health support that ultimately promotes academic excellence Gul, et. al (2021).
Therefore, prospective studies should evaluate whether improved help-seeking and
psychological treatment can enhance students' mental health and ultimately improve
academic self-efficacy and study progress.Up to November 24, 2022, we searched
MEDLINE, PsycINFO, ERIC, and Web of Science (core collection) for studies with children or
adolescents studying in school that assessed academic pressure or the timing of the school
year as an exposure and the results of depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation,
attempts, or suicide as the outcomes Lewis, (2023) et.al.
According to 'Mental Health Literacy & Mental Health of Filipino College Students 2021', the
results of this study showed that Filipino college students generally had average mental
health literacy scores, below-average MHI scores, average psychological well-being, and
above-average psychological distress.According to her first research, there were 44 suicide
instances documented per month between January and October 2020; of the 40 suicide
deaths that were reported, 23 (58%) included people under the age of thirty Apollo (2020)
et.al.Unsettling statistics of juvenile suicides or attempted suicides in the Philippines are
revealed by recent studies.Lauengo,J.D. (2023). These findings may provide useful
information that can be used as a basis for developing and improving school-based mental
health services offered in various higher educational institutions in the Philippines. Other
than that, the lived experiences of 60 university students demonstrated that a variety of
factors, ranging from unstable family dynamics to a generational misunderstanding of
mental illness, demanding academic engagement, and religious affiliations, influenced how
each student framed their conditions, which ranged from self-prescribed isolation to self-
stigma. The Filipino virtue of pagdamay, or sharing the weight, was reinforced through a
variety of experiences that greatly helped pupils manage their circumstances. It has been
observed that these mental health issues are related to low academic achievement and
obstacles to mental health care. Aside from that, the prevalence of mental disorders in the
Philippines increased from 7.0 to 12.5 million Filipinos diagnosed with a mental disorder
between 1990 and 2019, with an average yearly rise of 2.0%. The prevalence ranged
between 11.3% and 11.6%. The prevalence of mental disorders in the Philippines increased

has been discovered that these mental health problems are linked to subpar academic
achievement and impeded access to mental health services.
