SECTION A (MCQS) ( 10 X 1 =10 )

1 Difference between ‘Postulate’ and ‘axiom ’ is
(a) 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒
(b) Few statements are termed as axioms other postulates
(c) Postulates are the assumptions used especially for geometry and axioms are the assumptions 1
used throughout Mathematics
(d) None of These

2 In ∆𝑃𝑄𝑅, 𝐼𝐹 ∠QPR = 100˚ and PQ = PR , then ∠R and ∠Q respectively are 1

(a) 80˚ , 70˚ (b) 80˚ , 80˚ (c) 70˚ , 70˚ (d) 40˚ , 40˚
3 Which of the following is not a criteria of congruence?
(a) ASA (b) SSS
(c) SSA (d) SAS 1

4 If the difference between two complementary angles is 10˚ , then the angles are
(a) 50˚ , 60˚ (b) 80˚ , 10˚ 1
(c) 35˚ , 45˚ (d) 50˚ , 40˚
5 In quadrilateral ABCD, AC = AD and AB bisect A and ABC  ABD. The relation between BC and BD is
1

(a) BC > BD (b) BC < BD (c ) BC = BD (d) BC = (1/2)BD

6 To solve the equation a-20 = 15 , we use Euclid’s ……….. axiom

(a) first (b) second (c) third (d) fourth 1
7 Line I is perpendicular to line m and line m is perpendicular to line n ,then line l is …………..
to line n 1
(a) parallel (b) perpendicular (c ) intersecting (d) coincident
8 For every line ‘l’ and a point P not lying on it , the number of lines that passes through P and parallel 1
to ‘l’ are

(a) 2 (b) 1 (c) infinite ( d) 3

In Question No. 9 and 10, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a statement of Reason (R).
Choose the correct answer out of the following choices. –

(a) Both A and R are True, and R is the correct explanation of A.

(b) Both A and R are True, but R is not the correct explanation of A.

(c) A is true but R is False.

(d) A is false but R is True.

9 Assertion (A): In ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 , IF ∠ B =60˚ , ∠ A =80˚ , then acute angle C will be 50˚
1
Reason (R): The angle sum property says that the sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180˚

10 Assertion: AB is a line segment and line l is its perpendicular bisector. If a point P lies on l ,
then P is equidistant from A and B
1

Reason: Two triangles are congruent if two sides and the included angle of one triangle are
equal to the two sides and the included angle of the other triangle.

SECTION B ( 3X 2=6)

11 Explain Euclid’s Fifth Postulate with the help of figure

2
(or)

If a point C lies between two points A and B such that AC = BC ,then prove that AC = ½ AB.
Explain by drawing the figure .

12

In fig, if AB || CD, EF ⊥ CD and GED = 1260 then the value of AGE is 2

13 In quadrilateral ACBD , AC = AD and AB bisects ∠ A . Show that ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶 ≅ ∆𝐴𝐵𝐷 2

SECTION C ( 2X3=6)

14 Write Euclid’s Postulates ( any 3) and Explain it with the help of the figure.
3
15 In the adjoining figure, PQ and RS are two mirrors placed parallel to each other. An incident
ray AB strikes the mirror PQ at B, the reflected ray moves along the path BC and strikes 3
the mirror RS at C and again reflects along CD. Prove that AB || CD.

(OR)

In below figure, if AB || CD, EF ⊥ CD and GED = 126°, find

AGE, GEF and FGE.

SECTION D ( 2X5 =10)

16 In the given figure,
ray OS stands on a line POQ.
Ray OR and ray OT are angle bisectors of
 POS and 5
 SOQ, respectively.
If  POS = x, find  ROT.

17 State and Prove ASA CONGRUENCE RULE 5

(OR)

In right triangle ABC, right angled at C, M is the mid-point of hypotenuse AB. C is joined to M and produced
to a point D such that DM = CM. Point D is joined to point B. Show that:
(i) ∆ AMC ≅ ∆ BMD
(ii) ∠ DBC is a right angle.
(iii) ∆ DBC ≅ ∆ ACB
1
(iv) CM = AB
2

SECTION E ( CASE STUDY QUESTIONS ) 2X4 = 8

18 In the given Figure, ∆AFB ≅ ∆AFG, ∆ADE ≅ AGE and ∠EAF = 45°. 1
(i) What is the measure of ∠DAB?
1
(ii) What is the length of AD?
(iii) What is the area of the shaded region?
Or
2
What is the length of EF ?
