EXAMPLE

Prompt : Write an informative essay about a special holiday or celebration from

around the world. In your essay, explain what the holiday is, how people celebrate it,
and any traditions or customs associated with it. Describe why this holiday is
important to those who celebrate it.

In your essay, be sure to:

Describe the holiday or celebration in detail.

Include information about the traditions and activities involved.

Explain why this holiday is significant to the people who observe it.

Boom! the night sky just lit up with lights! Guess what? Today is a special
day. We celebrate so many festivals round the year, Thanksgiving, Holi, Ugadi ,
Christmas and the list gets longer. Out of all the festivals in India and America I
enjoy Diwali, the festival of lights, the most. Diwali is so special to me because that
day we eat a lot of tasty Indian food ,wear new clothes ,pray to god and go to
relatives house and light fireworks.

I like Diwali because we can eat a lot of sweet and savory traditional Indian
food. Our house smells wonderful even without room fresheners. All mouth
watering snacks like chaklies, samosa , laddu, vadai, gulab jamun, ras malai makes
us gain a few extra pounds. This is one time of the year that we pay more
attention to food than our health. Not to forget that Diwali also includes praying to
Goddess Lakshmi and offering her all the delicacies before we eat. It is the time to
share and we go over to friends and families and exchange gifts and sweets.

The main attraction of Diwali is actually the fireworks! We lit up our houses
with lights or diyas. My father is extremely fond of fireworks and he goes on a
shopping spree buying a variety of crackers like flower pots ,rockets and fire
spinners, and so on. Every year there is a new type of firework and we look forward
to this. At the end of the day we were wiped out because of lighting fireworks
,eating sweets, going to a friend's house and we went straight to bed.
I do like Holi and also Christmas too but Diwali is my favorite. Though all
festivals are fun, Diwali is extra fun because we get to binge on so many traditional
Indian snacks and light up our house and of course the fireworks. Diwali is rightly
called the festival of light and warding off darkness from our lives.

Example
Prompt : The readings talked about clutter and being tidy. Write an essay in which you give
your opinion: Is clutter sometimes okay, or should you always try to be neat? Use the
information from the passages in
your essay.

Do you know that being clutter is good? It brings out your creative side.
According to me, making clutter is good. Research shows that clutter brings
out your creative side. Also it helps you be kind to others.

Clutter brings out your creative side. Many scientists researched people in a
tidy room and a cluttered room when they offered a smoothie with a classic
ingredient and a new ingredient, the tidy room picked the classic smoothie but the
cluttered room picked the new smoothie. This shows that clutter is creative.

Will you prefer a tidy house or a cluttered house? Most

people will choose a tidy house. However in my opinion a cluttered
house is good too. Research shows that clutter brings out your creative
side. Also clutter can give you a chance to be generous.

While being tidy is nice but being cluttered brings out your
creative side. According to the source 2 “Clutter Brings Out Creative
Side:They found out that tidy places cause people to stick to what they
know. That was not such a surprise. But they also discovered that
messy spaces cause creative thinking.” This shows that disorganized
people can be creative in nature. Also in source 2 it states “In the final
study, 188 American adults were placed into either a messy room, or a
tidy room. Then they were given a choice between a smoothie that had
“classic” ingredients or one that had “new” ingredients. Participants
from the neat room picked the “classic” smoothie more often than
people from a cluttered room.” This shows that people who are messy
are more likely to try out new things. These are people who are more
creative than tidy people. Next time you are being scolded for being
messy remember you maybe a creative person!

When we have too much clutter in our house, it means that we

have too many things. According to source 3 “Dealing with Clutter: In
here, place items that can be given to someone else. Maybe to a
younger brother or sister, or a friend. Maybe even to someone who has
less than you do” This means when we have too many things with us,
we can get the opportunity to be kind and give away things to others
who need them. This will definitely bring a smile to their faces and make
us happy. So when we have a cluttered closet with too many clothes ,
toys, books etc, we can always donate the unwanted items.

Clutter helps you to be kind to others. Scientists found out that clutter
makes you kind, when people get sad or angry (other bad emotions) the
clutter side will give something they don’t use while the tidy side can’ t give
things they need.

In conclusion it is wise to say that cluttering is a good habit.

Cluttering brings out the creative side of a person and also gives
them a chance to be generous. I hope the next time when you are
accused of being a messy person, don't feel sad, be happy that
you must be a creative person and also a kind one.

Have you ever wondered that one day AI will take over the world
and make us slaves well even though AI is good but it may be
bad? People are using it every day so I plan to convince
scientists to not go too far, somehow?

Write an informational essay about the relationship between

clothing styles and developments in clothing creation. Your essay
must be based on ideas, concepts, and information from the
“Clothing Over Time” passage set.

Imagine you have to make your own clothes!! Well this is not very
uncommon if you lived back in the past centuries. In the past,
clothing cost a lot because making dresses took a long time.
Over time clothes were made by tailors and they came
readymade clothes. Finally today we have technology helping
us to design dresses.

One relationship between clothing styles and developments

in clothing creation is that they cost a lot in olden days than today.
In Source 2: Tailoring it says “For the most part, families made
their own clothing by hand from fabric they made or purchased
locally. Fabric was intricate and time-consuming to make. As a
result it was a highly prized commodity. Merchants made their
wealth in transporting fine fabrics and threads” This gives us a
clear idea why clothes were expensive in the past. Over time
clothes became less expensive because they were ready made
and even the fabrics were not as expensive as before.

The next phase came when people had tailors to make

clothes for them. This made life a little easy but still clothes were
expensive. Finally came the time of readymade clothes.
