Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A total of 44 cadets of the Services Preparatory Institute (SPI), a state-run defense
school in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, have cleared the UPSC exam.
Acting SPI director Syeda Firasat said on Sunday that the successful cadets include 25 candidates from the 46th
batch and the remaining 19 from the 45th batch. i.e. 25 Students from 2023 batch & 19 Students from 2022 batch.
“After passing the UPSC exam, cadets are now only one step away from entering the defence services as they
have to clear the interviews of the Services Selection Board. The necessary training required to clear it is ongoing,”
she said.
After the final selection, successful cadets would join the 152nd batch of the National Defence Academy and the
114th batch of the Indian Naval Academy as per their choice.
Established in 1977, the SPI provides personalized coaching for the UPSC (NDA) written entrance examination
and interviews of the SSB, besides building the physical and mental abilities of cadets.
However, it must be noted that SPI has not had a full-time director since November last year. Colonel (retd) Amit
Dalvi was the last director of the SPI, but he opted to step down before ending his term due to personal reasons.
As against the limited intake of 60 seats, the SPI every year witnesses over 5,000 applications and is becoming
more popular among the student and parent communities.
