Waco Family Medicine Employees UNDERSTAND:
All children need protection
Child abuse reporting is the Law – failing to report in a timely fashion is a
criminal offense and puts WFM at a great risk.
We must follow specific procedures for reporting suspected child abuse
Not a HIPAA violation to report suspected child abuse.
Immunity – a person who reports abuse in good faith is immune from civil or
criminal liability. The Texas Family Code also specifies that an employer may
not suspend or terminate the employment of, or otherwise discriminate
against, a person who is a professional and who makes a report about
suspected child abuse or neglect in good faith.
