ROLE OF MOTHER TONGUE IN
CHILD DEVELOPMENT:

It is also well- known that a strong mother tongue

foundation equips children with the skills needed to learn
additional languages. It allows them to transfer their
understanding of language structures to new languages. the
intuitive understanding of grammar that develops. when
children learn their first language can easily be passed on to
other language.
When multilingualism becoming an increasingly sought-
after attribute within the workplace, this advantage cannot be
aerated, globalization and increased co – operation bemoan
nations means that, in many organizations to have language
skills in addition to beings a specialist within a particular field.
Language and mother tongue also play a huge role in the
development of personal, social and cultural identify. children
with a strong foundation in their first language often display a
deeper understanding of themselves and their place within
society, along with an increased sense of well-being and
confidence. naturally, this flows down into every aspect of their
lives, including their academic achievement.
ADVANTAGES OF MOTHER TONGUE
IN EDUCATION:

There are many benefits ta a child learning in their

mother tongue language in the classroom:
• The Mother tongue makes it easier for children to
pick up and learn other languages.
• Mother tongue develops a child’ s personal, social
and cultural identify.
• Using mother tongue helps a child develops their
critical thinking and literacy skills.

mother tongue.
• Parent child interaction increases as the parent can
assist with homework.
THE LAST LESSON:

The story ‘’ THE LAST LESSON ‘’ converses the theme

of mother language. here the French language of the people of
Alsace and Lorraine was forcefully taken away by the
conquerors, the germen’s and enforced their language, German
on them, so the lesson discusses the importance and value of
mother language to the citizens of a country.
The lesson raises many questions about one ‘s language.
culture and individuals’ freedoms. we can hear silent protest
and attempt of repressions through out the story against the
hijacking of their mother language and imposing a foreign
language to them. the Prussians in the story have declared
through. the order from berlin that their whole purpose was not
only to rule the territory but also to resign over the mind of the
people by imposing their language on them. the story enforces
the facts that we value something more than we lose it that is
what we see here with the people of Alsace and Lorraine. they
assembled in the last class of M. Hamel to pay tribute to their
language which is no more theirs.
THE PRESENT SCENARIO:

The present situation existing around us is something like

what has been discussed in the story. the mother tongue of ours
is getting forgotten even at the primary stage of our education
then no need of thinking about the higher education Spector’s.
even through human brain is capable of learning multiple
languages, our educational system ignores to extend the due
respect to our own mother tongue.
The language imposed on us through educational medium,
technology, science, countered and globalization.
comprehends what is around them through their mother
language and they hear and learn to speak with their mother
tongue (language) is very necessary for comprehensive
development also they can become more confident and
discover more.
CONFIDENCE AND AWARENESS
WITH MOTHER TO TONGUE:

It can easily understand the difference in learning or

development with the mother tongue as a medium of instruction
because knowledge of the native (mother) language (tongue) not
only brings a person confidence but also helps to create a sense of
awareness in an individual. No matter what a person aspires to be,
it is extremely fulfilling and if the student is with a good grip on
the mother tongue for their learning then they always have an upper
hand among others who study from a difficult medium. Having
confidence in learning means the ability to prevent the extremely
difficult in understanding and communicating.
Therefore, mother tongue in the educational process is valuable due
to several reasons; it facilitates great confidence in understanding
and communicating different also helping to adopt new skills
which are required. Moreover, every child first comprehends
what is around them through their mother language and they
hear and learn to speak with their mother tongue (language) is
very necessary for comprehensive development also they can
become more confident and discover more.
INFERENCE:

• On the other hand, only 10 % people speak their

mother language in their offices ,schools , etc. showing that
English has overtaken all other languages as a world formal
language. we also see that 18% never and 13% occasionally
speak their mother language in the professional space, which is
a great concern.
• After further research, I found that these 31% people
are mostly children and teenagers, which shows that the current
older generations still have affection for their mother
languages, whereas the present generations are shifting more
towards English.
CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, the importance of one ‘s mother tongue

transcends mere words. It is a cornerstone of heritage, a
key to effective communication, and a symbol of
personal identity. embracing and preserving mother
tongue not only enriches our individuals lives but also
contributes to a more inclusive and diverse global
community. It is a celebration of the myriad ways in
which humanity expresses itself, a reminder of our
shared linguistic tapestry, and a path to understanding
and appreciating the rich mosaic of human culture.
