1) M.S. Dhoni as a Successful Manager


 Decision Making The moment we say challenges faced by managers, the key challenge that immediately strike in everyones mind is Decision Making. This is the key skill that every manager has to possess also which determines ones success and failures. In a common scenario, an individual comes out with decision based on his preconceived thoughts and it is not necessary that it should favour him every time. It is very common in a corporate environment, managers has a crucial responsibility of making decisions. We would have noticed in the present day situation the concept of Business Intelligence has ease the decision making job of the manager, but still we see the Question ( Are we successful in our decisions?) has not been erased. Stress has high proximity towards the current work situations, which would reflect in all aspects of your life. Now, how does Dhoni manages to make decision in a corporate environment? It is very important that Emotional IQ of a person is important while making decision which Dhoni has got in plenty which makes him more successful. As mentioned by Krishnan, the management professor Traditional intelligence alone does not deliver results, emotional intelligence produce better outcomes. A very good example that illustrates Dhonis decision making ability in the case study is Dhoni's decision to come in to bat at number five, ahead of the in-form Yuvraj Singh, in the World Cup finals, when he was not exactly in the best of form. The highest he had scored in the previous 21 innings was 38 runs. He still walked in and created history with an unbeaten 91-run innings, which also won him the man-of-the-match award.

 Transformational Leadership Every Leader has their own way in leading the team. There are various leadership styles like y y y Authentic Leadership Servant Leadership People Oriented Leadership etc...

Dhoni as a Manager at HCL has a plenty of scope in driving the team effectively. Motivational factor is the one which determines the employees productivity. In our Case, Dhoni as a manager is not only a motivational factor, he is an inspirational factor. A True leader inspires his team which Dhoni does. As mentioned by Professor E.Srinivas in the case study Transformational leaders inspire followers to transcend their self-interest for the team.  Good Communicator It is very necessary that every employee understand and works towards companys vision. Communication is a very important aspect of a leader. To achieve high targets, there should not be any communication gap between the management and the employees. It is not an easy task for a manager to communicate high expectations to his team members. In our case Dhoni as manager has got the skills to communicate high expectations and express important issues simply. A good communicator, who not only speaks also listens well. As mentioned in the case study the skipper not only imposes his views rather allow his team members the space to perform.

2) Traits that could inhibit Dhonis success as a manager

Differentiate Instinct and shallow thoughts.

After going through the case study, I found it hard to identify a negative trait that could inhibit Dhonis success as a manager. And finally found one, which could perhaps inhibit his success. In a corporate environment it is very important for a manager to plan things in advance. Dhoni, who goes with instinct in making decisions, is a very contradicting one in a corporate environment. For him to be successful every time Dhoni should always know to differentiate Instinct and shallow thoughts. As mentioned by professor Krishnan in the case study the success rate of such decisions will remain high only as long as Dhoni's emotional intelligence is good enough to size up issues.
