ABOUT IIChE-ChEMATHON

“Innovation is no longer a choice; it has

become an imperative.”
— Shri Narendra Modi
(Honorable Prime Minister of India)

IIChE-ChEMATHON, the annual hardware hackathon organized by the Indian

Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) Training Institute and Indian Chemical
Society (ICS), is a unique event that brings together students from diverse
engineering disciplines to develop innovative hardware solutions based on the
United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG6, SDG7, SDG9, SDG11, SDG12,
SDG13). The event serves as a platform for participants to engage with real-world
challenges in areas such as sustainability, process optimization, and industrial
innovation. IIChE-ChEMATHON 2025, hosted by the IIChE KEC Student Chapter,
Department of Chemical Engineering, Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai
and Erode Regional Centre, will feature collaborative problem-solving, mentoring
from industry experts, and hands-on project development. This year’s event
promises to push the boundaries of creativity and technological advancement,
with the participation of top professionals, researchers, and students from across
the country.
About Organizing Institute
Kongu Engineering College (KEC), established in the year 1984, approved by AICTE, New
Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai has completed 40 years of dedicated and
excellent service in the field of technical education. It offers 14 UG, 4 PG and 16 Research
programmes in Engineering, Applied Sciences and Management branches. The Institution
has got A++ accreditation from NAAC, Best Engineering College award, the Best Principal
Award twice and the Swachh Campus Award.

The Institution is one of the best self-

financing engineering colleges imparting
high quality technical education in India. In
NIRF survey, the institution bagged the 118
th rank among all Engineering Colleges in
India including NITs and IITs. TBI at KEC is
supported by the Department of Science
and Technology (DST), Govt. of India has
won a National Award and incubated over
100+ start-up industries.

About Organizing Department &

IIChE Erode Regional Centre
The Department of Chemical Engineering, started in 1994,
offers B.Tech. Degree programme in Chemical Engineering
and it is a recognized research centre by the Anna University,
Chennai and accredited by NBA-Tier I (Washington Accord).
The department focuses on imparting excellent technical
knowledge to the students to meet the needs of industries and
research as well.

The IIChE-KEC Student Chapter, started in the year 2001, aims

to promote research interest in Chemical Engineering and has
organized programs including seminars, guest lectures,
symposia and workshops. The Chapter has 150+ student
members and won Ambuja's Best Student Chapter Award for
the year 2017 and Pidilite Industries Best Student Chapter
Award for the years 2018 and 2022. The Erode Regional Centre
