Guidelines for preparing Project / Mini project / Seminar Report


Submission of Report to the Department: The students will submit their project report in the prescribed format. Report Format: The write up must adhere to the guidelines and should include the following in the same order 1. Title page 2. Dedication page, if any 3. Supervisor certificate/Approval 4. Acknowledgement 5. Abstract 6. Table of contents with page numbers 7. List of tables & figures with page numbers 8. List of Notations/Acronyms 9. Main text (Introduction, Literature review, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Summary / Conclusions) 10. List of references 11. Appendices 12. List of Publications and Presentations Paper: Good quality white executive bond paper A4 (297x210mm) size should be used for typing and duplication. Care should be taken to avoid smudging while duplicating the copies. Page number: Page should be numbered consecutively and clearly. No page number should be indicated on title page, supervisor/guides certificates and acknowledgement; however pages are to be counted from title page. From title page to abstract page Greek numbers should be used. From main text to end of thesis Indian numerals should be used. All typing should be on right hand pages only at the center of the bottom of the page. Margin: Top 20 mm, Bottom 22 mm, Left 30 mm, Right 20 mm Line spacing: 1.5 Normal Body Text: Font Size: 12, Times New Roman, Justified. 6 point above and below para spacing Paragraph Heading Font Size: 14, Times New Roman, Left Aligned. 12 point above & below spacing. Chapter Heading Font Size: 16, Times New Roman, Centre Aligned, 30 point above and below spacing. Specimen Copy 1

Table/Charts/Figures: Title of the table/Figure should be below the table/char Ex: Fig/Table. (Chapter No. Figure/Table Number) Title of the figure and centered Fig/Table 3.2 Model grid and coordinate system Text: Before producing the final copies of a project report the candidate should ensure that all the spelling, grammar, punctuation and bibliography is complete and exact. List of References The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the heading REFERENCES in alphabetical order in single spacing justified. The reference material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of the author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details. A typical illustrative list given below relates to the citation example quoted above. REFERENCES For Journals: Ariponnammal, S. and Natarajan, S. Binding The project report* shall be hard cover bound in white in color and all letters embossed in black colour. The degree, the title of the project and the year of submission shall also be embossed on the bound (side). The copy of the guide should contain entire project work soft copy in CD Jewel case. * However the seminar, mini project reports shall be in spiral binding only.
