Series and parallel circuit
Introduction:
Series and parallel circuit models help the students to understand the concept,
function, and advantages of electricity, resistance, and circuits. The model also helps to
understand how circuits work and how they can be made with material readily available at
home. In series, the circuit is closed where current flows in one path. Current passes
through each load are the same, and total voltage is the sum of voltages across a load.
Parallel, circuits have multiple branches of electric current, but the voltage across the load
is the same in a parallel circuit.
Objectives:
1. Understand the concepts of series and parallel connections.
2. Draw a circuit diagram of series and parallel circuits.
3. Create a series and parallel circuits incorporated in a miniature.
Instruction
In a ¼ illustration board, create a miniature building, house, etc. (any type of
infrastructure) and apply both a series and parallel circuits. Be creative as possible.
Afterward, draw a circuit diagram of the two electrical circuits you have in the miniature
you made. Attach it with your miniature. Answer the guide questions provided. Examples
are given below.
Materials
9V battery Connector
LED bulb Switch
Resistance Wire
Wire tape
Procedure
Step 2: Connect the wire of the battery’s connector with the negative terminal of one LED
bulb.
Step 3: Now, connect the red wire with the positive terminal of the LED.
Step 4: Connect both red wires through a switch and connect the battery with the
connector.
Now, to test the series connection of the switch. Turn it on and you will see that LED bulbs
emit light.
Step 4: Now, connect the switch to the copper wire in the positive leg direction.
Step 5: Next, connect the battery connector wire with the switch and directly connected to
the other wire in the negative direction.
Now, to test the parallel circuit, turn on the switch you will see that LED bulbs glow.
