Text :

During the last holidays, Abel, a student in form 2 in the secondary school of
Atchoukpa, got sick after eating some beans which were not well cooked. He felt some pains
in his stomach and vomited. His father kept him at home and practised auto medication. He
did not know what his child was suffering from exactly but gave him some tablets of
Paracetamol. But Abel did not recover and felt more pains. Finally, his father took him to the
hospital because he was afraid. A doctor examined Abel and was very angry with Abel’s
father. He said: ‘Why did you treat your child at home? His case is too serious now because
of you.’ Then he gave Abel an injection and some tablets. Abel felt well again and they went
home. But at the hospital, Abel saw some patients suffering from malaria, toothache,
backache or stomachache.

On their way back home, Abel’s father told his son: ‘My son, our health is very
important and we must always go to hospital when we are ill.’
