Winterization
When changing the engine oil, fuel, or coolant depending on the ambient temperature, refer to "INSPECTION
AND MAINTENANCE" (page 95).
Engine Oil
Use oil approved by engine manufacturers with viscosity suitable for the ambient temperature.
Fuel
When the ambient temperature drops, fuel may freeze and prevent the engine from starting. Use a fuel with
performance suitable to the ambient temperature.
Coolant
Use an engine coolant approved by the engine manufacturer with the concentration of 50%.
Washer Fluid
Battery
When the ambient temperature drops, performance of the battery degrades and may not be able to start the
engine. Check the level and specific gravity of the battery electrolyte, and add distilled water or charge the
battery if necessary.
Tire Chain
WARNING
Failure to observe the following warning may damage the vehicle structures such as brake
piping, and cause an accident.
• When fitting tire chains, inspect inside of fenders to check that the chains do not interfere
with the adjacent components such as brake hoses in fender during traveling.
• If there is any abnormal sound during traveling, immediately stop the vehicle and inspect.
If the tire chains are cut off or removed, they may hit persons around the vehicle and
injure them.

NOTICE
• In order to keep the machine in good condition, it is made mandatory by Japan's law to
perform inspection and maintenance at the user's responsibility.
• The indicated inspection and maintenance frequency assumes a normal operating
condition. If severe use (severe condition) is applied, shorten the inspection and
maintenance intervals.
• If you cannot perform inspection and maintenance by yourself, contact your nearest
TADANO distributor or dealer for inspection and maintenance.
Proper inspection and maintenance secures the safe operation, and results in the extension of the service life.
In order to make full use of the machine performance, perform the inspection and maintenance at the specified
intervals to prevent failure and detect any potential failure at the earliest possible time.
Perform the inspection and maintenance based on the time displayed on the hourmeter or the traveling distance
whichever comes first.
Standard time for the inspection and maintenance assumes that 100 working hours correspond to one month.
Interval described in this manual assumes that the machine is used under the normal operating condition.
Correctly perform the inspection and maintenance at every specified time.
Legal Inspection
Carrier
The laws and regulations about inspection and maintenance of vehicles must be observed if they are mandatory
in the country where the machine is used.
TC-4255-2_OM3-11E
In order to always keep machines which are routinely under severe use in good condition, perform the
inspection and maintenance which TADANO recommends apart from the periodic inspections.
Carrier

WARNING
Neglecting the periodic parts replacement may cause a failure of the machine or an
accident. Replace the periodic replacement parts in accordance with the specified
inspection basis and at the specified intervals.
Some machine parts may deteriorate in quality or wear over a long period of use. Some of these parts
deteriorated internally faster than their appearance do. In order to use the machine safely for a long time,
parts which must be periodically replaced even if there is no functional abnormality are specified as "Periodic
replacement parts."
Contact your nearest TADANO distributor or dealer for replacement. Replace the periodic replacement parts
even before the replacement period if any abnormality is found. Replace the parts based on the time indicated

Greasing
NOTICE
• Do not use different brands of grease together.
• Doing so may change the properties of the grease and cause an adverse effect on the
machine. When the grease is added, use the same brand that is already used on the
machine.
• If a different brand of grease must be used, be sure to remove all the remaining grease
before lubricating with the new grease.
• If dust enters in the grease, it causes the premature wear of the sliding surfaces, and
shortens the life of the crane carrier. Always clean grease nipples and the surfaces which
require lubrication before applying the grease.
• In addition to the areas listed in the "Maintenance table," the following areas should also
be lubricated with grease in a timely manner to prevent a rusting and ensure a smooth
movement.
• Links and sliding sections that have been coated with grease before the shipment from
the factory
Greasing is necessary to minimize the wear of the sliding and rotating parts, and extend the life of the machine
as well as to operate smoothly.
For the greasing of the bushes and bearings, fill the new grease and force out the old grease.
