start the vehicle.
• Do not travel with the parking brake
applied. Otherwise, a fire or failure due to
overheated parking brake may occur.
• Excessive use of the foot brake may overheat the brake system and degrade braking
performance, resulting in an accident.

When traveling on a long downhill, downshift and use an engine brake. Apply the exhaust
brake together with the engine brake. When you downshift, be careful not to overrun the
engine.
• Do not coast the vehicle with the clutch disengaged or the shift lever in neutral position.
The engine brake and exhaust brake do not work and excessive strain will be applied to
the foot brake.
• Depress the brake pedal only when braking is required. Do not place your foot
unnecessarily on the brake pedal while you drive. Otherwise the brake drum can be
overheated, or the brake lining wears prematurely. And resulting lower braking power can
increase the stopping distance.
• When the vehicle is parked for a long time when the ambient temperature is extremely low
in winter, etc., the water contained in the brake lining freezes, resulting in brake failure.
Check the operation of the brake while driving slowly.
• When the low brake air pressure warning lamp lights up, or the indication of the air
pressure gauge is less than the value at the red marking, stop the vehicle at a safe place
immediately. Do not travel in this status.

WARNING
"Precautions for Inspection and Maintenance" describes the precautions to prevent an
accident during inspection and maintenance of the machine. For specific precautions, refer
to the corresponding paragraphs in the main text of this manual (white pages).
Illustrations are used to supplement the precautions. These illustrations show approximate
location of the points, and the shapes, etc. may be different from those on the actual
machines.

Precautions for Inspection and Maintenance

• Perform Inspection and Maintenance on a

Level Ground

If the machine is parked on a slope, the

machine cannot be inspected correctly.
Moreover, it may move by its own weight and
cause a crushing accident.
When inspecting and maintaining the
machine, park the machine on a level and firm
ground, apply the parking brake, and set the
stoppers to the tires.
F01002-00E

• Set Stoppers to Tires

If the parking brake is not securely applied,

Coolant Level in Coolant Reserve Tank

WARNING
When the engine is warmed up to the normal operating temperature, the engine coolant is
in a high temperature and high pressure state. In this state, do not remove the cap of the
supply port. Careless opening may cause hot water and steam to spout, causing burns.
Let the cap cool down until it can be touched by bare hands before starting work.

Inspect the machine on a level ground before starting the engine. Coolant level cannot be
measured correctly if the machine is inclined or the engine is running.

Remove the cap of the supply port, and check the Pipe

Greasing

NOTICE
• Do not use different brands of grease together.
• Doing so may change the properties of the grease and cause an adverse effect on the
machine. When the grease is added, use the same brand that is already used on the
machine.
• If a different brand of grease must be used, be sure to remove all the remaining grease
before lubricating with the new grease.
• If dust enters in the grease, it causes the premature wear of the sliding surfaces, and
shortens the life of the crane carrier. Always clean grease nipples and the surfaces which
require lubrication before applying the grease.
• In addition to the areas listed in the "Maintenance table," the following areas should also
be lubricated with grease in a timely manner to prevent a rusting and ensure a smooth
movement.
• Links and sliding sections that have been coated with grease before the shipment from
the factory

Greasing is necessary to minimize the wear of the sliding and rotating parts, and extend the life of the machine
as well as to operate smoothly.
For the greasing of the bushes and bearings, fill the new grease and force out the old grease.
