Letter of Motivation: Application for the Masters (MSc) in Climate Smart Agriculture

Dear Sir or Madam, with this letter, I would like to express my interest of applying for a position
of MSc in Climate Smart Agriculture at Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart
Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation at Haramaya university. I have been working as a
Forest and Climate resilience green economy (CRGE) Expert at Bedeno Agricultural and
Natural Resource office.

Having looked through the info materials provided by your Center, I was very delighted to find
the opportunity and I have decided to apply for this program because I am sure it would strongly
enrich my future studies and help me in my future career. Moreover, I consider this program as a
great opportunity to get this scholarship so that I can explore new realities and facts in Climate
Smart Agriculture . I am very curious about different approaches to this subject at Haramaya
university. While studying for my BSc in Natural Resource Management I have chosen to apply
for Haramaya university, because I developed theoretical and practical background in the course
of climate change adaptation and mitigation from studying university.

The reason why I Choose the Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart agriculture and
biodiversity conservation at Haramaya university is its advanced educational and research in
the agriculture and biodiversity which aimed on the producing educated human skills for Africa
to tackle climate change. Studying Climate Change, I came to understand how perfect the
ecosystem works and how much we, humans, are affecting the whole cycle. Changing climate
and excessive population growth are problems that we have to overcome, and completely change
the way we use our precious resources. I still find it possible for us to become a self-sustaining
society. All that we need, is the determination from society in general, government and large
investors to allow us to make it happen. However, the ambitions which I have just exposed to
you would not be realized without a solid knowledge and a strong real world experience. I would
like to use my stay in Haramaya University for further developing my skills in understanding our global
problem, Global Warming. The possibilities that Haramaya University gives me, further expand those at
my home institute and the courses this university combines match perfectly my academic expectations.
Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.

Yours sincerely / Ahmed Aliyi
