Activity 1: Analogue Clocks

Read the times and draw the hands on the clocks.

It’s five o’clock. It’s half past nine. It’s quarter to twelve.

It’s ten past seven. It’s twenty-five to four. It’s five past two.

Activity 2: Digital Clocks

Look at the digital clocks and write how you would say the time, first in digital format, then in analogue
format. Use the words in the vocabulary box to help you.

Activity 3: Speaking Practice

First, look at Laura’s timetable and take turns to practise asking and answering these questions about her
daily routine in the Present Simple:

9 a.m. take the children to school

10-11 a.m. go to the gym

12 p.m. do the shopping

1 p.m. have lunch

2 p.m. tidy the house

3 p.m. pick the children up from school

4 p.m. help the children with their homework

5 p.m. make dinner

6 p.m. have dinner with the family

7 p.m. take the dog for a walk

8-9 p.m. watch TV

10 p.m. put the children to bed

11 p.m. go to bed

What does Laura do at 9 o’clock in the morning? What does Laura do from 10 to 11 a.m.?
She takes the children to school. She goes to the gym.

What time does Laura take the children to school? What time does Laura go to the gym?

Now, following these examples, take turns to ask and answer the questions about each of her activities for
the rest of the day.

Practise using both the analogue and digital formats, and remember to use the 3rd person singular form of the
verb!
