Up Registration
Congratulations! We are pleased to confirm your final admission to the abovementioned programme.
Register online from 19 January; we would recommend that you register as soon as possible. Admission and
registration spaces are limited and if we have reached capacity your space may be forfeited. All the information
you need is available at: https://www.up.ac.za/registration. Assisted registration is available at the Hillcrest
campus from 21 January 2025.
To avoid losing your space, please click on the CONFIRM button on your UP Student Centre under the
Admissions tile, on or before 16 January, acknowledging that you will register at UP for 2025.
If you want to change to a different programme; from 14 January you will be able to "add study choices" under
the Admissions tile on your UP Student Centre. Limited study programmes are available.
You need to complete the following two actions before you will be able to register (if not already done):
1. First payment.
o R 10 000 first payment for South African and SADC citizens. R40 000 first payment for International
students. The preferred method of payment is the CREDIT CARD option at: https://www.up.ac.
za/student-fees/article/2735995/credit-card-payments.
Please visit https://www.up.ac.za/student-fees/article/2735910/undergraduate-tuitionfees-per-faculty
for more information on the full amounts to be paid.
o The University of Pretoria's bank details are available at: https://www.up.ac.za/student-
fees/article/2735940/up-bank-details. For payments made to UP and not reflecting on the account,
please forward proof of payment to ssc@up.ac.za and payments@up.ac.za.
o If you are a company bursary holder, you are required to email a confirmation letter from your
sponsor/bursar. Please email the letter to externalbursaries@up.ac.za. If this is not done, you will
have to pay the first payment before registration.
o NSFAS-funded students need not pay the first payment. As soon as your funding is confirmed by
NSFAS, the financial hold will be lifted and you may register.
o Important: Payments and external bursaries may take up to 5 days to reflect, please keep this in
mind during registration. You will not be able to register if your payment does not reflect on
your student account.
o Only if you have officially been placed in a residence, also pay the residence reservation fee of
R5 700 as soon as possible. View your residence placement status on your Student Centre, under
Residence Information.

• Holds may prevent you from registering successfully, eg immigration documents for international
students, and these will display on your registration page.
• Registration is dependent on the availability of spaces. Register as soon as possible to avoid
forfeiting your space.
• Consult your faculty's Yearbook for information on which modules to choose and your programme
curriculum. Visit: https://www.up.ac.za/yearbooks/home.
• Please register online as soon as possible before 31 January. During this time first-year students
will only be able to register for fundamental modules – enrichment modules that all students are required
to take – and core modules (compulsory subjects related modules that all students have to take for their
chosen study programme). First years with fixed curricula can register for their modules as they appear
on the registration page. First-year students with elective modules will then have to register for their
remaining elective modules (modules that can be selected from a pre-defined list), during the
Orientation Week (3-7 February 2025).
• Complete the online pre-orientation as soon as possible. Pre-orientation opens on 21 January 2025,
before the official Academic Orientation Week, and will be available to all unconditionally accepted
students via UP's online learning platform called clickUP. The aim of this module is to provide all
learners who might become UP students with a glimpse into what they could expect from academic life
at UP. Visit https://upnet.up.ac.za, click on "ClickUP" and look for the module "Towards becoming a UP
student". Email upo@up.ac.za.
• The online part of the Academic Orientation programme will still be available in your UPO module after
the Academic Orientation Week.

UP follows a blended teaching and learning approach, which includes both online learning and in-person
classes. It is therefore important for students to have access to an internet-enabled device, preferably a laptop.
The minimum recommended specifications are an i3 processor with 8GB of RAM and 500GB of storage. Some
2
faculties e g the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT) and the Faculty of
Natural and Agricultural Sciences (NAS), require higher specifications and specific software. Please consult your
faculty's webpage for the faculty-specific requirements.
