Welcome to Using Python for Research!
The rst week of content in this course will be easy if you’re already familiar with Python
3, but will otherwise help get you up to speed for the following weeks. To get started, you
should take the self-assessment to determine if this is the right course for you. To
succeed in this course, we expect that you have some Python background. In week 1, we
review basic Python concepts.
If this course is too advanced for you, we recommend that you check out an introductory
Python course such as:
Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python
Introduction to Python for Data Science
This course is designed for self-paced study of around 4-8 hours per week for ve weeks,
including lectures, comprehension checks, and interactive homeworks. All of our
interactive homeworks were created with DataCamp, an online data science school.
All comprehension checks and interactive homeworks are graded. The comprehension
checks account for 40% of the total grade and the interactive homeworks account for
60% of the total grade. You must achieve an overall score of 70% to pass the course. You
